"Baby, it's cold outside," she stated flatly as I pulled on my winter coat. "Be sure to grab your scarf and gloves when you go out there."
I looked out the two-paned window in the door that separated me from the frigid air. It was frosty around the edges. The kitchen was pulling me into staying wrapped in its warmth. But I had to go. I knew I wouldn't see her again so I gave her one last, longing look, gripped the door knob, turned it, pushed the door open and stepped out into deep winter.
