Her eyes looked over the words on the smooth, thin paper. She tried to imagine a life before, a life where there was nothing but blackness. She thought it would be beautiful, forever living in the midst of an ebony sky. Everyone made white out to be pureness, for light to be health and recovery, but to her, there was no color more poetic and more elegant than black.
She hadn't expected the ringer of her phone to go off when it did, as a matter of fact, she wasn't expecting anything at all. It had been three weeks since he last spoke to her, and she had assumed that they were pretty much done. But the undeniable sound of Adelaide playing had changed that.
