I quickly look to the left and then the right before crossing the street. The tiny hand of Oliver nestled safely in my own we dash across the black pavement. Next to the familiar silver chain link fence I bed down and remind him to be careful at the playground and I stand to unlatch the gate.
the cafe was bustling with all sorts of noise. Plates clattering and people talking. I liked to come here on rainy days and enjoy the food. The chef here made the very best pasta I had ever had. Better even than the food I had in France! The glass was old to so the rain drops rolled over the grooves on the lightly waved panes of glass.
I had to choose between the two of them. How could I? One had basically raised me. The other one offered me a stable home though and I did want that. The road called to me, I had traveled my whole life, from town to town. No one understood him so we had to run from everywhere I had almost called home. How could I leave him alone....
The sleezy politicians had never done us much good. They just sit up on their podiums and gesticulate and make promises they never intend to keep. We sat in the dark underground lab in silence. We couldn't think what to do and the precious seconds ticked by. Soon there would be no hope for the place above. suddenly an old dusty monitor lit up and a code flashed by on a black background. It would be the code that saved us all.
At the command we rushed forward. We were blind to the danger and all we could see was glory. the horses powerful legs pumped beneath me and i held my weapon up. All at once both sides crashed together and my blade met the shoulder of an unfortunate young man.
I was raised in the corn fields of the south. We would collect the corn in the hot bug filled air in the summer. In the winter my friends and i would go about across the rough dead fields looking for secret tunnels in the trees.
The announcer yells from his stand. Like horses out of the stalls we crash across the wet grass. We kill anyone that crosses our paths. Our goal, the glory of victory the last one alive. A victor will be crowned.
