"May any of you are are brave enough to face this beast come forth," the king bellowed from his throne.
Cautiously I stepped out into the open floor with my heart in my throat, my stomach at my knees, and my sword clasped in my clammy hands.
"I will take on the beast, Your Majesty," I said softly as I bowed deeply.
The throne room went deathly quiet for longer than I would've liked, before it tore into tumultuous laughter that stung my insides.
There was some sort of electric charge in the air that made her nervous. She felt an unnatural presence all around her that was making her hair stand on end. Suddenly she felt something grab her shoulder and she whipped around in a frenzied panic.
