God shouldn't have let your path and mine cross. Seeing you should have made me believe in the existence of an almighty, but you've made it impossible for me to believe that anyone or anything could have come to find the perfect portion of every single thing that forms you. Any god wouldn't have let you become the weakest point in me.
I remember it steady. It was calm. It sort of looked dead. The trees around didn't dance as they used to. The breeze didn't hush as it used to. But it wasn't the only thing that looked dead. I don't remember thinking I felt alive when I stared at my reflection in the dead sea.
There was an instant of hesitation before letting go.
It was far away. He could see it coming up behind a mountain, rising like the sun. He wondered whose hand let go. He wondered what replaced it. He wondered why.
