the light
the sun shone on my back
bringing warmth
and i ran
faster and faster
until i could barely breathe
but the freedom
it pulled me in
like a moth to light
and i could not
would not
stop
chasing it
when people think
punishment
they think darkness
they think pain
they think misunderstood
when i think
punishment
i think light
i think joy
i think being understood
because who can really define something
so difficult to understand?
sometimes i wonder if punishments really help anything.
people kill
and steal
and sin
but punishing them
does that really help?
if you are a sinner
will you ever stop sinning?
of course not. it's ridiculous
to think that you would.
so maybe there's a better way
maybe instead of punishing
we should be helping
like a rehab
because those people
are just confused
not bad
they just aren't sure how to be fulfilled
so they try everything
not even aware
of what they're doing
just doing it.
she thought she deserved it
she had no one to go to
she was along
(or so it seemed)
so she punished herself
the lights were gone
it was all dark
all dark matter
was it an illusion?
science says otherwise
but that doesn't mean
that myths are fake
you can love life
and still think
you deserve
something horrible
because no one can disagree
or agree
it is inevitable
that life goes on
rain.

downpour
gray
watchful.
just a storm
but really it's more.
and i can't seem
to find
the strength
to keep going.
move quickly,
dance
with your small arms.
watch as sparkles
cry out,
you have won.
small faces
are beauties to behold.
the pageant
that you cried.
don't you remember
what we used to be?
you were mine,
your skin
your lips
so soft.
we spent hours
living in memories.
but you put it all out
with one single torch.
burned my eyes,
now they're black
alone
empty.

only papers,
small snippets.
nothing like
life messed up
mistakes made.
wake up in the night,
calling for the one
you accidentally killed,
knowing you will never
get her back.
she was yours,
but she is now gone.
all because you messed up.
