Half pink, half blue. The sky seemed split as the sun began to set. A line, right through the middle with the sun resting below it. What beauty, what art, that God could make such an marvelous sight every evening.
The lights were shining, the music was blaring and yet... in the midst of it all, I was alone. I was surrounded by people, being pushed in every direction and yet I was more alone than I'd ever been. No music could drown out this loneliness. No lights could shine in this darkness. I was alone.
His brow bent and his eyes closed. I knew what he was thinking. He didn't think I could do this. He didn't believe me. The look in his eyes when they opened nearly tore my heart in half... but I couldn't let him stop me. I had to do this, no matter how concerned he was that I would fail.
The long chain was tangled as I pulled it out of the pouch. The gold glinted, though evidence of age was visible. The gem that hung from it shone emerald... my grandmother's favorite gem. And now it was mine...
You say you're nothing special, but I say differently. I see everything in you. I see something grand, something beautiful, something worth fighting for. I hope one day you will see it too. You're not ordinary, you're incredible.
