“Citizens of LA LA Land !” Luna Rave yelled. “Run wild! Throw caution to the wind!” She threw her arms up as the crowd roared. “For this is a place without judgment!” She laughed. “A place to be yourself, whatever that may be…. A place where time, distance, normalcy …. has no meaning!” She extended her hand over the crowd. "Hug freely!, love freely!" She smiled. "Peace....love...unity...respect!" She shouted as the crowd repeated her words. “Be lost! Be found!” She lowered her voice with a pause. “This is a Rave!” She laughed jumping into the crowd below who embraced her. The music boomed louder taking the Citizens of La La land through pills of blue and red until the sun brought them all back to reality……
Elle breathed in and
out hard and fast. "You're ready" Kai's voice was firm. "I don't have much choice so yes I'm ready" She held in a whimper. "Focus on
something else, place your energy there" Kai instructed. Elle could focus on nothing but the pain before the massive glow of the moon caught her eye. It looked closer and the stars brighter than most nights. "The moon" Her eyes squint with pain "I'll focus on the moon" She exhaled a breath she had tried to hold.
Kai glanced up at the moon for a split second before disappearing into the darned waters again. "Don't struggle against nature my love, let it run its course" He emerged soothing her. Elle nodded and began the horrendous journey of pushing. This was a pain like nothing Elle had ever felt before. He legs wobbled and her stomach churned so much she thought she would faint. This was not the beauty of birth she had wanted to imagine but she drew strength from the moon and the thought that within moments she would hold her child to be.
She tuned out every sound. No water sloshing about. No rustle in the leaves of the wind. No animals lurking in the brush. Just silence. She pushed again as Kai held her body close. She felt a tremendous pressure before release as Kai submerged again. One last push and her body was back to being one soul instead of two.
The mild current rippled washing the blood away with it. Elle floated weightlessly against the shoreline when Kai emerged holding the most perfect child she had ever seen. No sound came as Kai examined the baby like it was something he had never seen before. Elle could feel the pain of the afterbirth that followed. Kai reached his hand to her as it sank to the water below. Kai swiped his hand on the baby's belly and the cord simply fell off.
"Meet our daughter Ella" Kai placed the silent baby on Ella's chest and he propped her up. "Why is she not crying?" Ella's lips trembled with emotion.
"Our kind aren't birthed in tears love" Kai caressed the baby's cheek. "She's ok?" Ella stared at the two tiny eyes who stared back at her with curiosity.
"All is well my love" Kai kissed her forehead. Right on cue the baby wailed out a cry that made Elle laugh with joy and clutch her closer.
As if summoned by her cries, a slow sprinkle of rain began. The gentle rain drops always soothed Elle. "What shall we call her" Kai asked. "Luna... it means moon in Spanish" Elle nuzzled her baby. "Luna" Kai repeated kissing Elle's lips gently. Pulling her partially out of the water Elle inspected her new baby girl. Her face was a mix of her lagoon colored eyes and full pouty lips with Kai's Merman ears and slightly webbed fingers. All in all, Luna's upper body looked like Elle's but her lower half was something new.
Luna had two legs like her mother but they were a slick texture with a hint of green and very tiny scales from the upper thigh down. Aside from the appearance in color, the shape was very human. She looked at Kai. "She will be a great swimmer like her father" Kai said. "I would think so" Elle smiled warmly. Half human, half mermaid. "She's perfect" Elle kissed Luna's tiny webbed toes.
“That’s what we do Addie!” Nelson shouted at her. “We’re thieves!” He laughed. Addie stared at him in silence. “We rob people, we steal” Nelson walked closely around her like an animal trying to intimidate its prey., but Addie kept her feet planted firmly on the ground. “We kill people too” He leaned into her with his velvet tone, allowing his breath to tickle her ear. “But most of all” He chuckled. “We. Are. Thieves.” He grabbed her by the shoulders to face him. “You good with that?” He stared at her. “Wouldn’t have you any other way Turner” She looked up at him. “Dirt bag outlaw and all” She smirked an evil grin. "That's my little miss" Nelson kissed her so forcefully he almost knocked her over.
“You sure you’re ready to join this band of thieves?” Nelson hopped onto his horse. “Bang bang bang bang vamonos vamonos” Addie laughed as she hopped on behind him.
Slideshow.
“Hit rewind please” She says softly. “Just once more” She holds her head down. The wheel turns slowly abruptly stopping before the black and white reel goes again.
The slideshow of life. She’s allowed one more glance. Picture after picture, memory after memory long gone. Good and bad. Doesn’t matter now, can’t turn back. “Was it the slideshow you’d hoped for?” He asks in a gruff voice. “One hell of a slideshow” She straightens herself out. He nods understanding.
“I’m ready now” She extends her hand to the reaper disguised as an angel as her last breath escapes her muffled by the sound of a thousand tears around her.
What is your self worth? “$1” Is what I used to say to my sister Judy to make her laugh. She gave me the dollar and I glued it in my journal. She’s been gone for four years now and I can still hear her laugh. If it’s one thing she taught me is that my worth is much more than the $1 I teased about. Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself what you are worth. Think long and hard. Don’t let anyone lower your worth. Are you worth it? YES! Strive to be worth more every day. Know. Your. Worth. Don’t forget that only you can determine your worth.
Timing is everything. A single moment can change the entire direction of your life. Good. Bad. Who knows unless you take that step. Time isn't always on our side like The Stones say, but if we work on our timing I would hope we can make things better. Timing is everything.
“Come closer my dear” The oven says in a tone that reminds me of a snake. “Peek inside” It says. I bend down slowly to see what emits such an amazing aroma from the dimly lit oven surrounded by darkness. Could it be cake? Could it be cookies? I cup my hands to the greasy glass peering closer but see nothing inside. No, not again. The light abruptly turns off. The oven has tricked me once again. It was all made up. It was all just a dream. Today like the day before, there is still no bun in the oven. The oven is full of emptiness.
This morning all i could do is CRY. Cry because not only did i think id never feel "that way again" but i never thought it would be YOU who made me feel that way. I cry for release of tension and bottled up anger that will devastate me more. Rather than pay you back or make you go through what i did.... i CRY
Keys. Always lost. I swear i left them on the counter. Perhaps they do grow a pair of legs and walk away. Maybe that is their sense of humor, their way to communicate. Always hiding. Keys jingling is keys laughing. Silly lost little keys. Hidden doors unlocked and all.
I'll never understand why some people won't allow you to merge when your lane is ending and there is nowhere else to go. Do they think it is safer for them to speed up or slow down to match your speed? Stupid. Plain stupid. This is why i rarely ride my motorcycle. Just be safe and merge!
