Agony kissed you, it seemed
When you were carried away by the men in white.
Although I could never tell, years later -
Was it because of the fall,
Or the fact that I had pushed you?
His feet sank into sand the way he made friends,
Making impressions that bore his mark upon everyone he met
But his prints were washed away by ocean waves
As he slowly vanished from everyone's lives
Exhaustion.
Lethargy.
Her muscles were dead, her will broken.
Dishes lay about the fetid water of the sink -
Clothes scattered haphazardly amongst the crumb-ridden floor -
Dreamless sleep was her only escape.
Her eclectic assortment of books were a comfort to her -
Chaucer, Machiavelli, Douglas, and Asimov
She could run away from all of her troubles
And never have to face reality.
Just like the ocean,
Her eyes were piercing blue.
Deep, unfathomable, overwhelming
You could be sucked into her gaze
And have no way of coming out.
