The riots had grown in frequency and in intensity. What used to be a rare happening was now expected. The bloody faces stayed bruised, the broken bones were forgotten about all as a new fight began. But yet, the power, the growing and pulling of the mob still brought newcomers. They couldn't stay away, they couldn't fight their way out of the forceful wills all crashing against others so close to them, it was tantalizing. It was strength. It made us forget.
She opened her eyes only to find a groggy grey mist in front of her.
After blinking a few times her vision sharpened and a bright white light began to seep around her.
"What?" She croaked out, her voice felt unused, "Where am I?"
A pair of arms wrapped around her from behind and an unfamiliar voice whispered,
"You're in wonderland Alice, and we've all been waiting for you."
I can relate to you.
You may not know it, but I can.
I understand what you're going through.
Even though I haven't been though the exact same thing myself.
I want to help you.
I want to help you so badly it almost hurts.
I want to be the one you come to for the good and bad.
I want to be the one you turn to.
And once again, I try for something and what happens? I fail. I fail at everything I do. Everything. I couldn't make an audition, couldn't win a contest of any sort, my friends aren't even cordial to me anymore, I feel empty inside everyday. My parents only look on the negative and nothing I do is right. Nothing. No matter who's judging it's always the same verdict, the same mutual agreement, I fail. I can't do a single thing right and everyone agrees. Is it sad that the only thing that keeps me alive is the fact that I wouldn't want my friends and family to be disappointed in me? Well, it looks like I'm already failing at that too.
She looked up at the stacks of boxes and sighed.
" I can't believe he's gone. I can't believe he left me.." She mumbled.
A pair of arms wrapped around her from behind and Kyouya's low voice whispered in her ear, "You'll never be alone again Haruhi. Trust me, I won't leave you, not now, not ever."
She gripped the iron bar in her hand tightly, swallowing as she peeked around the corner. Taking a deep breath in she dashed around it, pressing herself against a dark wall silently.
Then, arms wrapped around her and a voice whispered in her ear, breathy and hoarse, "Oh, it looks like I found you Neko-chan."
She couldn't move.
"It's wrong." He said, his voice betraying no emotion as he looked past her to the cold water in front of them.
"I know," She said, her voice shaking, "But it feels right, doesn't it?"
He blinked, slowly. "I suppose so."
She watched, feeling like an outsider to herself as he turned, his lips crashing into hers as his hand wrapped around her back.
"But who the hell cares? It's not like we have morals anymore." Jake whispered in her ear.
"That's right." Came the reply out of her mouth as she returned the kiss.
"Of course it's right Lina, of course."
He looked down at the ground far below him. The wind whistled by his ear, making the hair on his arms stand up. Shakily he took a breath in and let it out, closing his eyes. "I shall never become anything more. Never." Then, he fell.
He sat next to me on the playground bench, it was silent. In the distance I could hear the soft rustle of leaves and the chirping of birds. Slowly, his arm moved around my shoulders, pulling me closer to him. With a light smile on my face I leaned against him, closing my eyes and finally relaxing..
She smiled, looking down at the children playing on the playground. A tall, dark haired man walked up wrapping his arms around a small boy as he picked him up. He smiled.
