She craved it. She needed it. She desired it. Working her ass off for straight A's. Spending time at the Animal Shelter. Anything and everything it took for her parent's approval. A 4.3 GPA wouldn't do, make it a 4.4. More AP classes, longer working hours. It was never enough, and it never will be.
She looked at the phone, a text. She didn't want to talk to him, not now and probably not ever. After he publicly humiliated her, she didn't want anything to do with him. Beep, another text. She rolled her eyes, wishing he would just give up. "I don't want to talk." She sent up, feeling the tears start to flow. Don't cry, he's not worth it, she told herself over and over again. Hoping she'll believe it.
