I was talking about my roommate today about software patents. He argues that they should be totally rid of. The idea is that they patent ideas of programs before they even are implemented. So old big software companies that managed to get a bunch of patents of ideas of programs they have yet to even implement and code, are allowed to sue those who've worked hard to implement said idea. Its pretty ridiculous. If the people that said software patents protect say to get rid of these patents, then there's obviously a HUGE problem.
Ive been taking a history class focused on the radical liberals of the 1960 and 1970s. I empathize with them. Frustrated with the slow results of the nonviolent method they resorted to violence and confrontational means to get their needs across. The question shouldnt be so much directed at the destructive nature of these groups. They shouldn't be alienated and isolated and labeled destructive and needed to be rid of (Cointelpro saw to that) the question history should really ask is WHY? Why are these radical movements happening?
