Derby. First, thoughts of racehorses blustering through the dust. Biting at the metal bits in their mouth, pushing to go faster and faster. I hear stampeding hoofs, loud whoops of the jockeys as they lean forward with nothing but determination and glee in their eyes. I imagine the tunnel vision of these magnificent creatures; their visions narrowed down to a pinpoint. Derby. A true feat of endurance, determination, and strength. The thundering is, and always will be, graceful.
Mention your name. I won't remember it, but I don't tell you this. Mention the weather, the news, anything but the real you, the true you. Mention is a formality. Mention is mundane. Sing it. Shout it. Mutter it. Dance it. Share it. Make it yours. Whisper it. Bellow it. Just don't mention it.
