Her dress was made of the deepest blue velvet. It fell in waves all the way to the floor. A string of pearls surrounded her neck. Her hair was expertly done, soft curls framed her face.
The tide was coming in, but she wanted to stay out a bit longer and find more shells. She dug in the sand, finding many. As her bucket filled, she turned and walked back up the beach, her hair crusted with sea water and salt.
He leapt into the air, arms spread out, face to the sky. He fell faster and faster, the air rushing by, his hair whipping around his head. He smiled as the earth came up to greet him.
They looked exactly alike, the same length and weight, hilts guilded with diamonds and other precious gems. They were exactly the same, but complete oppposite, one was made in darkness, the other in light.
It hung in the sky for days, a huge black cloud of fallout. It seemed dark, the sun dulled and dust rained down on us. The entire town was dirty, everything covered in a layer of dust and ashes.

Everyone was smiling, looking at her, advancing towards her. She backed away slowly, afraid. Their smiles seemed plastered to their faces, fake, unreal. Then she saw the strings at the edges of their mouths. Their mouths were sewed into permanent smiles.
It was her last science class of the year, the day of the big test. She nervously drummed her fingers on her desk as her teacher began to hand the tests out.
