Shelter from the rain. Shelter from the pain. Shelter to hide from all of life's woes. That is what God is like. He is like a hen's wing, spread broad to gather all the chicks in. To protect them from the wind and rain that are life's storms. A shelter from all harm.
There is a train track in the neighborhood where I live. It runs right through the old town square. It is old and rusted from disuse. The trains stopped coming through here in the 1970s. Now it lays there alone and unneeded, a silent reminder of better times.
