Petition is a word used for people trying to over throw someones law. An example would be; I could use a petition to try to pass a law of letting dogs in parks by getting a certain number of people on board with me.
Belief can be many different ideas. It can be the belief of "Jolly old Saint Nick," or the belief of karma. It could be the belief that things will turn out for the better or just a belief on the weather of the day. Belief is a really broad subject.
