You know, the signs are everywhere. They have been for years. Apparently I was the only one who was looking. I love you more than anyone can imagine. I love you for your weirdness, your strange desire to pair mayonnaise and cottage cheese and eat it at 1 in the morning every night. Your weird quirks and our random dance parties in the kitchen. But you don't seem to even care. You've never loved me at all.
I hate writing in shorthand. It doesn't make any damn sense. I mean the kind of shorthand that people are taught because apparently there's an actual practice, rhyme and reason to shorthand. I thought it was just whatever I wanted to write to help me get the gist of what was happening. The fact that there's actually a format and formula for it is ridiculous.
There's nothing like tasting things. You can't even describe it. Taking a wedge of an orange, popping it into your mouth, feeling the juice burst across your tongue in a citrusy wave. The juice dripping down your throat, the sweetness remaining in your mouth. It's one of the best things you could ever experience and it's the most taken for granted every day experience in the world.
Even though miles and miles, multiple continents and oceans separate them, they will never really and truly be without the other. Their love could span much more than a little bit of material space that's currently between them. And it's not as if they'd never see each other again. They'll be together before they know it and it'll be as if no time has passed at all.
The poster said one night only. It was like a flame and I was the moth being drawn in. I couldn't resist. Tugging my collar tighter around my neck against the chilled rain I made my way inside the small cafe. Inside was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen in my existence singing a song that had me frozen in place.
He stood there in his armor, holding his sword and shield in an arena full of people, feeling lonelier than ever before. He knew that all these people here were rooting for him to die a spectacularly bloody and brutal death against whatever kind of monster he'll have to face now. And for the first time ever, he wondered at the pure sadism that are his people to cheer at the death of one of their own for entertainment.
My lips were red, throbbing and bruised from the intensity with which his lips had worked over mine. My breath hitched as his eyes bore into mine, silently telling me that he was far from finished. My lips would be far more chapped than they were now and I could just tell that I wouldn't regret a single second of it.
I will never scorn you. I will never hate you. I will never speak ill of you because you were always the best man in my life. You showed me that not all men are untrustworthy. You showed me that they can be kind and gentle, sweet and thoughtful, considerate and worthy of my love. I will always treasure you for that. I will always hold you in my heart as the first MAN I loved. I'm sorry that our dreams couldn't come true together. I'm sorry that you have to leave with such a heavy heart. But I'm so honored to have been part of that for as long as I was. You have grown and changed from this, you will continue to grow and change. I love you for who you are and what you are. Thank you for being that loving, gentle, magical man for me.
That entree looks disgusting. Who would eat cow's brains? That doesn't sound or look delicious in any sense of the word. Greyish brown cat vomit on a plate is what this waiter put in front of me. How was I supposed to know what I ordered? IT WAS IN FRENCH!
The sound of his voice captured me. I was mesmerized, hearing this melody pour out from between those gorgeous lips. His fingers played across those strings with a practiced self-assurance that made my skin tingle. His brows furrowed, his eyes sad as the words he sang came straight from his heart. He saw nothing, he was far away from this place, this stage, these lights. He was with the woman who broke his heart, who left him to pick up the pieces all those years ago. And just like that, the song ends, his brilliant smile returns, his eyes alight onto mine and my heart can't help but melt. He's beautiful.
