People are born destined for greatness. Seldom, however, do we actually achieve what we've come for.
"YOU'RE WEAK!" He screamed at me as I crawled away, my legs limp and useless behind me. He began to laugh. "Crawl away, dearie. Keep crawling. I can catch you."
I grasped the small dagger at my belt. It was small. Probably wouldn't survive a direct hit from a sword. Or anything. But it was the last thing that stood between me and death.
"You're only mad because it's what Robyn aske--"
"DON'T YOU DARE MENTION HER NAME! DON'T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT THINGS THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND!" She screamed at me. "She's DEAD she doesn't care anymore! I'll do what I want!"
I shrunk back in fear. Her hands had begun to smoke and steam began to lift off her hair. "I understand plenty enough. She didn't want you getting hurt. Please, the magic of fire is not one to mess with on your own. Please, go to the Phoenix." I turned and ran before she could start throwing fire balls at me.
Today, the dictator took over.
Today, the seeds of rebellion have been planted.
Today, I chose my side.
From today on, I do everything in my power to make sure that the rebellion comes out victorious.
This romance formed between us. nothing more than occasional kisses stolen behind the oak tree, but it was more than I ever wanted. I wanted to go off on my own adventures. I didn't want a man to stop me from this.
But now I want him.
I never signed up for a romance.
The smell of lillies filled the air. It was a smell too happy for what I was feeling. I wasn't sure if I'd ever be happy again. Somethings just leave you upset for the rest of your life.
Losing your best friend and half your family at the same time in this war is one of them.
The dozen men surrounded us. There sword points just inches from our face. I didn't see how we'd get out of this one.
I reached and grabbed Jason's hand, his fingers giving a reassuring squeeze. Or maybe just a spasm of fear.
"Where are you going?"
"Anywhere but here!" I shouted back to him. Tears streaming down my face. "I'm sorry, but i have to. it's too dangerous for all of us. I have to go."
And with that i spurred my horse into a run.
I refused to look back.
