There are many forms of art, from paints and canvas to the swirl of music in the ears. But words took a special form of artistry. It took skill to immerse her in another world with simply the power of ink on paper.
I found some strange comfort in the fact that, even though I was doomed to one of the most horrifying deaths I could imagine, at least he would die with me. Shaking, I turned my head to look at him and gave him a simple smile. His face contorted with rage.

"I'm surprised you came," he said.
"Really, now? It's like you don't even remember who I am."
"Yes, of course," he replied. "You, who ran in fear at the slightest hint of failure, were sure to confront me as soon as possible."
It was only a matter of time, at this rate, before the world sprung into all-out warfare. He had to find a way to fix the problem and to get himself off the hook, all in about twelve hours.
He ran a hand through his hair. This would definitely be fun.
Spring occurred without warning. Amelia looked out the window, expecting another slew of snow, and was greeted by a soothing rain and the beginnings of life's return.
"He didn't do anything," she said with conviction. "He didn't do anything at all."
I suppose you were right. I suppose that all the times you lied to me, all the times you schemed only for yourself, all the times you cared only for yourself...in a way, you were incredibly, unbelievably right.
