The roof is on fire. The Earth really is coming to an end. This morning the meteor showers began, then the earthquakes. If we're lucky, the ensuing hurricane will put out all the fires, which would be a good thing since the tornado wiped out the fire station.
Higher than I ever was, I got in that car. Put my boot down on the clutch and started it up. As I went from 1st gear, to 2nd, then to 3rd, I couldn't help feeling like a pilot on an intergalactic ride home.
Both us walked our own directions. I looked at her mouth as she peered at the ground. Then I paused, she was looking up. Suddenly I snapped my eyes down. Where was the courage? I looked up to see her smiling eyes just as she walked by.
He looked himself in the eye. Mirrors never lie, he thought. Oh, the young boy still had much to learn as he stepped into the cold, thinking he knew exactly what he was. Young, different, and alone. There's always something not quite right about a mirror, though.

The past never escapes you. Consciously or not, it always has a claw into what you see and feel today. The best thing to do is to learn from it, and not to dwell on how good or bad things used to be. It's a lesson, like a book you'd read in school.
Underneath the bed where monsters roam. Sharp-toothed green creatures, foaming at the mouth waiting for the steps of a child to make their dinner, dessert, or their whole day. Monsters kept hidden by darkness.
