It was so loud that I could hardly hear myself think. An hour ago, that had pissed me off, but with a couple more tequila shots down the hatch, I was actually starting to enjoy it. The chick I'd been hitting on for the last 45 minutes had pretty much blown me off, but her friend, who an hour ago I hadn't thought was that hot, but after another tequila shot or two was starting to look pretty promising, kept putting her hand on my arm and laughing at my jokes.
I woke up shaking. Outside, thunder crashed and I realized I'd been woken from a dead sleep by the sound and fury outside the window. Edgy, I looked toward the window - lightening sparked outside the shade, illuminating the room and the objects in it. I shook off sleep and wondered if I'd be able to fall back into slumber. I also wondered why, even though during the day, I liked thunderstorms, they terrified me at night.
