I kept pressing and pressing the button, but the elevator wouldn't move quite fast enough. He stormed towards me, yelling my name and I just kept pressing. As he reached his long, bony fingers out towards me, the elevator began to close, but it was too late.
He took me by the arm and I was thrown into the wall. He comes toward me with the most menacing look on his face. "Don't you ever say that again." I moved back toward the wall.
The clasp of the necklace was pure gold, just like the rest of it. He put it around my neck. I turned around and kissed him, but before I knew it, he had to leave. That was the last time I saw him before the dreaded car accident.
"I promise," she grabbed my hand and I closed my eyes, but before I knew it, she was gone. The misty black of the starry night appeared empty in front of me.
It was my first time looking into her eyes. The experience was overwhelming. I had entered a sea of emeralds, drowning in emotion and beauty. You could tell from her eyes that she had a lot on her mind. They glazed over when you tried to talk to her. She was so withdrawn these days.
He leaned in and kissed me one more time. I fell into his rhythm. Ive never felt more alive than when I'm with him. He pulled back and slid his hand down my cheek. That was the last time I saw him.
As I sat waiting at the bus stop, I pulled put my headphones. After a few songs, she joined me.
"I was afraid you wouldn't come," I said not even glancing at her.
She looked at me. "You say that as if I have nothing at stake here."
He flexes his muscles and she is immediately all over him. I despise people who throw themselves at boys like those. I look away before I gag.
The stillness and the silence spoke words of wisdom and that truth that was left unspoken. The icy coldness of her hand tangled itself in mine.
Whether or not she wanted me. This was what consumed my thoughts day and night. It was hard for me to believe that someone like her would even notice someone like me. I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't live when she wasn't around.
