Icing on the cake. That expression, more often used in sarcasm, "Well isn't THAT just the icing on the cake!" as someone looks in to see they've locked their keys in the car on day when it's raining and they're late to work and there's nobody home to let them in to get their spare set of keys. I love it. I use it... that way as well. Never in a good way. But I love icing.
The best thing about Christmas markets in Germany when I grew up were the decorations. They were nothing like the ones in the US where I'd started growing up. There was wood everywhere, things carved, that looked hand-made and their St. Niklaus was tall and thin, not short and fat. I preferred their decorations to ours then & still do today.
Crew is what we were in the US Navy. It meant more than team or any of those other words. It was a part of something bigger than ourselves. We were the crew of the boat. We were parts that when added together were more than the sum of the parts. The crew made the boat more than a pile of steel. The crew was the soul of the boat and we were all important. We were crew.
