He always kept a backpack full of emergency rations and equipment. Not the sort of emergency rations you would need for a hurricane, or a tornado, but rather the sort of rations you would need if your own government turned against you, and you had to go live off of the woods.
They all thought he was crazy, until the apocalypse came. But by then, they were all dead.
"For example," The professor said, "The Amazonian tree frog can leap a hundred meters..." My mind trailed off. Biology was my least favorite class, and I could care less about the leaping abilities of a tree frog in South America. I was much more interested in Lizzy, who sat next to me.
I turned to look at her, but she was raptly paying attention to the professor.
"I've lost control, Captain!" The Captain was slightly phased. He had never been in a situation like this before. The Coatl were right on his tail, and it looked like there was no way out.
After a moment's hesitation, the Captain grinned. He had never been in a situation he couldn't figure out, and he wasn't about to start now. "Turn the ship to port. I've got an idea."
