Almost doesn't exist. You either did, our you didn't. If the doctor walked up to you in a hospital while you were waiting for the verdict on a family member's surgery, would you appreciate "He almost lived" more than "He didn't make it?" I think almost is a shortvut used by people who are too cowardly to admit they couldn't.
Control is something you have no control over. No pun intended. You either have control, or you want control, but if you want control and don't have control, you can't create control. So just sit back and wait for nothing to change...again.
I used to have lots of things on my keychain. Keys, cards, dangly toys. But then I realized that I never actually use my keychain. It sits at the bottom of my purse. So I took all the danglies off and I only use it to occasionally unlock the door now.
I remember my grandmother told me a story once about people who talk to her. Her name is Barbara, so when people are asking her how to spell her name, they say "Barbra." So my grandma says, "No, only one woman spells her name like that in the whole world. It's Barber-a."
One time, when my mom was babysitting my stepbrother and my brother- then just friends, before my dad got remarried- she told them to "sit down and be a mensch (well-behaved child)." My stepbrother immediately jumped up and screamed, "I don't wanna be a bench!"
Greeting cards, in my opinion, are a dying practice. If you want to "greet" someone, you go on Facebook and say "Hey!" But you never send somebody a card just to say hello. Did people ever really do that?
Invent. Invention? It's a hard thing to think about, because first you need to know what to invent. You can't just set off and invent something, you have to have a relatively clear-cut idea of what to invent and how to invent it. Have fun thinking about that. I confused myself just writing it.
