  1. The ruins loomed on the skyline. Their glittering heights brought new meaning to the word ‘awesome’. The young men could barely keep their eyes off of them as they set up camp.
“Tomorrow we’ll be there,” one said to another, an eager glint in his eyes.
    The other nodded. “Tomorrow.”

Silent mountains behind holding the mysteries of the centuries. This is what I see as I walk across the desert plains. What was there? What happened? Where did they go? One will never know as they examine the remaining mystery. What a profound experience – to behold only segments of the past.

  8. In life, one could argue, there are boundaries that are meant to be broken. Boundaries of love, for the lonely among us: boundaries of the mind, for those of a more academic disposition. And boundaries of the land, which change shape ever so constantly with the respective greed of the lords of war.

However, it has been – or had been – unanimously agreed that one boundary shall never be breached. Ancient, looming, it encircled the dark pines to the southeast of the continent, bordering the kingdoms of A’shayar and Brommn, respectively – two rivalries as ancient as the boundary they both feared, which resulted in their coalition of a united border against it.

The events that follow are a direct result of that border being breached by the singular horror that was bound within; the deaths of thousands, the crumbling of a empire, and the ultimate end of the fifth era.

  11. Ancient triple frogs began to so rapidly overpopulate the Triassic period that they soon burgeoned 250 million years into the future. The first drove of them popped out of the Mississippi mud in 1943 and each new drove pushed the one in front of it further west until the first drove made its fateful appearance in 1944 at high tide in Monterrey CA, tails and all. Doc woke one morning to The Seer’s horn, lit a cigarette and saw them surging in waves up onto his deck, best thing that could’ve happened. Doc’s research paper made him the hottest marine biologist in 1945, same time as the ex-sardine fisheries began canning the new most sought after delicacy.

  13. There is a time in our history, it may be created every single minute and second that we are alive, that is considered ancient. “Ancient” is a word to describe what we believe is old and valuable so many humans use “ancient” in ancient vases or ancient texts. But if ancient really is something valuable, then everything is ancient because everything is valuable. Therefore, every time a minute, or even a second passes, we are creating something ancient and forever because that moment, however brief, can never be changed… unless we build a time machine.

  18. The ancient ways of doing things are always on my mind. I guess a better word to use would be traditional. Although technology seems to be making most of our lives better, I can’t help but think that we are not close to what we should be. I just watched a documentary on food and, it seems to me, that we could learn a lot about the way we eat from ancient times. Technology didn’t make us smarter, it made us lazy.

  25. Sehun lifted his head from his desk. He sniffed at the air around him, ignoring curious glances from the boy sitting next to him, who in Sehun’s opinion was too pretty for his own good. He mumbled an ‘excuse me’ as he collected his notebooks and shuffled out of the 7th hour History lesson. The air was shifting. The ground was breathing. He was sure of it now. A glint of light flashed from the ground and Sehun didn’t even fully process the unusual sight because his heels turned him and his feet carried him away from the C building, then past the dorms, then straight out of campus. He was squinting against the sun now, “..really Sehun. What the hell are you doing?”

We know love, but we reject it.
