Pedals, dried, stuck to the flower of the atrium. How long had they been part of the floor? Would anyone notice if they were cleaned up? When she looked down and saw how many were there it made her think of the pain of her past in pieces stuck to her heart. Wondering if she could clean it up like one would peal and pull back dried flowers from the ground.
In the wide atrium, the central pedestal was the only source of light. The rest of the room was bathed in light shadows that flickered with the shifting of the mysterious object in its centre.
The birds flew in one day and ever since, they have started a small colony. It seemed benign at first, just some flapping sounds and chirps. Nests and eggs in the springtime. They stole from the garbage and occasionally pooped on costumers’ heads. But eventually we noticed little changes. Who had unlocked the safes and taken only the shiniest coins? Their songs started to sound a bit more sinister as we walked through the atrium to our offices.

He looked around. The atrium was impressive. So quite unlike the building he had seen from the outside. It seemed to be so plain and rather boring, this house was anything but boring. An atrium with a glass roof and a fountain.

She saw him out of the corner of her eye. His back was up against the atrium. She had not seen him since the trial. “Should I just walk up and say hi?” She thought to herself. Sweat ran down her armpits, her nerves were in a bunch like bananas clustered together not wanting to be pulled apart.
Dr. Wilkerson walked through the rather extravagant atrium toward Professor Anway’s house, and she was amazed at the sight of all the marble and gold leaf and other aesthetic ornaments. When she saw Anway approaching her, she also noticed that the cane he was leaning on had a pearl grip.

She would never forget the first time she had stepped into the golden atrium. Mouth hanging open, she took in the golden pillars wrapped with silver lifelike vines. They were everywhere, supporting each and every beam, and it seemed to her that one kick would send the whole structure toppling to the ground.
There was a lovely atrium in the foyer of the building where I used to work. I loved going there in my breaks. It felt like I was escaping to a little private place in the rainforest where no-one could see me. I loved the smell, and the green contrast against all the concrete and glass.

She looked around the huge atrium, pausing as she clipped along to take in the sunlight. She looked back over her shoulder for him. “Coming?”
“Yeah, one sec.”
The atrium was bustling with teens and moms, couples and strollers, suddenly young millenials started congregating in a cluster of hipness in the center of the mall, soon they were bouncing up and down and clapping in unison, then bursting into song, a heavenly chorus of harmony, youth and life, heads held high, smiles and gentle gazes to the surrounding shoppers, some recording the whole scene on cell phones, children standing stunned, adults amused and awed.
´´ Look through the systems floors and you will notice the study of the everlasting consciousness´´, said the professor.
The atrium resonated in shadow and light for a brief spell after the bell had chimed.

Atrium, an addendum for a gathering,
A meeting of minds for ex-change
A connection grasped, interests and niches to be shared
Annotations and savvy intros
Well-rehearsed, in kind.

an open-roofed entrance hall or central court in an ancient Roman house.
