  1. we are all average. everyone is the same and everyone is not unique. we share in the same experience that is human life. i could hope to be beyond average but that is not possible. i believe that we all can have the same experiences and share these. average can get a bad rep, but it really is what we all are.

  2. The human being, a shell of imperfections. Ah, but what makes some extraordinary and others simply Average. Is it a walk, or jus the the way they hold their head?

    Matthew
  3. Her hair fell upon her eyes in a way that was no more spectacular than any other average girl. But for some reason the smile behind it, the glimpse in her eyes was simply breathtaking. She smiled at me and stole the world out from underneath my feet.

    Cole
  4. Average is an ugly word…to the world…but I don’t think to God. God loves average. He loves me being JUST who I was made to be. Not sticking out like a sore thumb or even a pretty one…just the me he created being my best…His best.

  5. the average is the mean of a set of numbers. this is statistics. which i did not take in school. average means not good but not bad. just in the middle. am i average? i’m not sure. i don’t know if i’m anything special. maybe average is relative. maybe i’m slightly more average that an average person

    Angi
  6. One time I got up in the morning. I realized I was stupid for thinking I would rule the world. I won’t rule the world. I am average. Only above average rule the world. And, then I realized. I could rule the world if I wanted to. :) I no longer have trouble getting up in the morning.

  7. Average is not something that I would feel I am in any aspect. Average is something that is considered to be usual, something considered to be normal. Not to say I’m weird or different in a negative way. I am simply unique, thats who we’re supposed to be.

  8. Its hard to be anything more. If you ever feel stuck its always in this plateau. “a rut” of sorts. All of us like to think were much more than that. That were special. And maybe each one of us are, in their own way, “unique”; but if everybody is just as special, than is anybody?

    Julian
  9. I don’t really think the word average is ever used correct. I don’t think it’s an adjective that can be applied to people. What would average be in correlation to people? It’s like normal, who is normal who is average? Sometimes we try too hard to focus on just average, but most times it seems nothing is ever ‘average’

    enodia
  10. Is there an average? Who decides what is truly normal? What is abnormal? Truly, we are all abnormal, for none are exactly alike. Though there are similarities between us all, not one of us is the exact same person. And that, in itself, is a beautiful, not average, thing.

    Lindsay
  11. i used to think i was the most average person ever. Then i realized, i’m not average at all. something is terribly wrong with me. i am depressed and suicidal which is far from average mind thinking.

  12. Average is something that I wouldn’t want to be. At least, it used to be something that I dreaded becoming. But as I grow older I’m realizing that being average at some things can be enough, if it means being excellent in the things that matter the most in life.

  13. i’m average, you’re average. what is average? is it tall, short, skinny, fat? what does it take to be “average”? is average beautiful? is it ugly? someone please tell me how to fit in. i just want to belong.

    Kayla Tuel
  14. To me “average” means boring. A prominent example would be an “average day”; a day in which nothing of the extraordinary happens. Routine, dull, etc etc. Blah blah blah.

    Samantha
  15. Average is as average does. We’re average, however, to the average person is average even an adjective? Quite possibly, I could be saying average as many times and I want to without any type of meaning. How average of me. Average… unimportant. This is an average post.

    Kelsey Andersen
  16. her hair was average, nothing special in didn’t glimmer or stand out.
It was plain and yet she stood out to me

I couldn’t help but want her
it was like i was captivated by some outrageous curse
    a curse I didn’t want to break

    Tess
  17. one in a million trust me i am a very different type, i am no average teenage girl i may be real short and tiny but i have the imagination of a thousand college students.
no one has a bigger heart than me but also can have that little attitude if you dare get on my bad side.
i am a unique person and have the personality to prove it, why be average when you can be above it, don.t be afraid to express yourself and your voice because that is the most important part of who you are.
dreaming is what average people do but people like us who are above average don’t dream we act.

  18. What I am. The simplistic. Basic. Ordinary. Not motivated. Lacking the special thing that makes me me. I hate it. It’s something that is not what I want. It’s lame. I hate it.

    Shane Weikel

  20. Average, What is so wrong with average. Everyone is obsessed with being above average and worried about those that are below average…why? What is so wrong with being average?

    Amanda Sirmon
  21. I was never very good at football. I was pretty overweight, lazy, and I loved cheeseburgers. But I did make a good lineman. I heaved my weight into the defensive line with the force of an asteroid impacting the Earth and frequently knocked one on his ass and left him dazed.

    James Fahey
  22. I’m average. Average height, average looks, average intelligence….. however a quite not so average weight. But I’m happy with it. That’s what matters.
My life is average in some senses. Not in others.
But over everything else– I am UNIQUE.
    I am ME.

    Samantha
  23. I am a very average person. I do what I need to do in order to survive the game of life. If you’re above average, then everyone below you will attack you because you’re not one of them.

If you are below average, you’ll fall, sink, rot, decay, and won’t survive. You’ll die, crumble and rumble in the below average people.

  24. you make me mediocre
    when all i want is
    to be your shoulder
    to lean on
    to cry
    to talk to
    to kiss at night
    you make me boring
when i try to please you
and theres nothing left for me
    to do
    and you want my everything
i want to give you nothing
    you dont deserve me

    Desiree
  25. Average is just a word. Who cares. Who really is above average? Who can say who isn’t? It’s stupid. A word that rejects and reflects societies measurement of what is supposed to be.

    SHIT
  26. One average day, a girl skipped down the street. The colors she wore were in fact, average. No one noticed her, but why would someone notice the average, everyday girl? Being noticed isn’t an average thing to do. Average is invisible; average is blending in.

  27. I was average the day I was born. I just got out into the world and before I knew it average set it’s target directly on me. I never new I could be good at something. But I am good at being average. Jack of all trades master of none. I can.

    Danielle
  28. Ordinary. Mundane. Nothing special. Pastoral. Nothing that would ever earn the attention of someone else, unless that someone else managed to look past that first layer of average and discover that there’s something truly special about you, maybe something that you never even saw there for yourself. Average, like every day of our lives. They could be something special if we make them, but the truth is that most of us are happy with routine. Most of us are happy with average. Too much special is confusing, intimidating, unsettling. If we never know what might happen next, how can we plan for the future? There’s security in average, in routine. It may not be what we’ve always dreamed of, but most of us will settle for it just the same. Our society is built on the expectation and desire for averageness.

    Ellorie
  29. Average. You can find average velocity by adding up all the velocities and dividing. I like this because it is just numbers. The other way involves drawing and estimating, which I don’t like. I like numbers. I dream in pre-calculus. When average isn’t math, I don’t like it. I am average. I like to think I’m special but deep down, I know numbers never lie.

  30. Once again, I find myself posed with a question. Will I exceed expectations, or will I slip under the radar and go largely unnoticed? There are pros and cons to both. I could eventually be raised onto the laurels of immortality if I choose to be exceptional, but similarly, I could be thrown to the dogs for trying and failing. If I decide to do nothing and remain AVERAGE, I may never be happy, but also may never be sad.

    Delton
  31. I need to remind myself that I am above average in so many ways. Anyone would be lucky to have me. I am beautiful. I need to tell myself that every day. I am beautiful. It gets easier every single day. I am beautiful. We are all beautiful.

    Isabel
  32. Being average is boring, everyone wants to be like everyone else. They’re average. Why not want to be different? I don’t want to be average. I want to be like, above average. Smarter, better, prettier, more talented, more special. Average is boring and plain, and so average.

  33. there are many things in this world that are described in extremes- huge, tiny, monumental, diminutive. However, there are few things that are described as “average”. It’s sad, really. What an underrated word.

    Delton Devin
  34. Your mom is average! ^_^

    Tesah
  35. Average. Something everyone tries not to be. But if we are all trying to be above average, doesn’t that make above average actually average? If no one is average then no one isn’t average. Weird, right?

    Nicki
  36. No one can ever truly be average because there’s something special about every single one of us. Even if the one thing you’re good at is doing nothing. That’s not average, that’s just you. There’s no such thing as “average”.

    marisa
  37. I feel that I’m just an average person. With adequate being. I want to find something that sets me apart from being just a face in the crowd. A skill, a talent. Something. In those rare moments however, when I make someone smile I feel extraordinary. Ive always had this idea of grandure when it comes to my career. Something like an elite business woman, but maybe my calling is to make people smile. To care.

    Alexandra

    Peter burnett
  39. I am average. Or as average as it gets these days. I’ve done what everyone else has done, I guess. I’m the epitome of the teenage norm… hopefully. Or maybe I’m not. Maybe I just suck.

    Erica Gansbauer
  40. I’m not average. Average is average. We are all one and another. We cant think, as fast as the other, we are not as good as another. We aren’t a statistic. We are all above. All of us exceed standards, all of us exceed capabilities of others. Look at the koala dude…
