  1. Funny after being gone so long today is bagel. I say that as yesterday on April Fool’s I made some. Handmade bagels. I love those things. I never realized how much bagels and pretzels have in common until I made my bagel. Ugly things. Tasted good but ugly as sin. I think I need that bagel press so they flop into the water nicely.

  2. Bagel? Seriously… bagel? Of all words of ever I get bagel. I barely even like bagels… But whatever. The only thing I know about bagels is that for some reason I associate them with Jewish people. Weird. Anyways. That’s all I have to say

  3. manhattan bagel ther eis one inredding it reminds me of that time Hollianne andI went to cold stone when I was back for Christmas vacation. I got to see Parker then. I really don’t know what it is about her, but I really don’t like who she has become after she married Jon and had Parker. It’s like she grew up and pays mroe attention to herself than anyone. It’s in thtat negative way too….

  4. “So I just learned that, I’ve got this extended cousin I never knew about, an’ everyone calls him “Bagel.” She laughed, running tiny candlestick fingers through her cotton candy hair, flashing a silver-studded smile. “An’ I said, if his name really is “Bagel,” why the hell haven’t we been introduced yet? Gotta be an interesting guy with a name like that.” She giggled again, like a kid at a birthday party, and shifted her perpetually shoeless legs. “Seriously! Who names their kid after breakfast food?”

  5. One day in the summer, I went to a bagel shop. It was my first time I went to one. It wasn’t too packed, very mellow atmosphere. I ordered a blueberry bagel with blueberry creamcheese. Great combo right? I figured they;’d go good together.

  6. I love bagels but most people think its a Jewish thing to eat too many bagels. I am a freshman in college and its safe to say that bagels have saved me often times of starvation. I love bagels. That is all. Oh and cream cheese is the shit!

  7. It has been a long time since I have eaten a bagel – I’m not sure I even remember what one tastes like. It’s of no loss to me really, since I have always liked english muffins better. Kind of like how different people tend to pronounce the word differently — beggel, baygel. Potato potahtoe.

  8. i love einstein brothers bagels. the plain ones with pink cream cheese. i can never remember if it’s raspberry or strawberry flavored. that’s insignificant anyways. they remind me of my aunt. she used to get us bagels from there. she passed away when i was in fourth grade. i still miss her sometimes.

  9. I ate the bagel slowly and deliberately. I savored every single bite. Enjoying the first “meal” in days. A bagel really shouldn’t be considered a meal but when days got rough u would take a bagel any day just one that’s all.Just to stop the constant ping of hunger.

  10. Thrust me back through that hole, past the sesame stocks, past that scorched ground, into the granulations of its creator.

  11. The smell hits her before anything else. The atmosphere is so calming, so comfortable, that all the stress from the day immediately leaves her body. She loves the cafe. It isn’t well known, but it makes do with locals and she loves it that way. She loves the smell of her desired coffee already brewing, the view of pastries on the counter.

  12. Never tasted this one since I’ve never been to US.
I think it’s somewhat tasty since it has numerous references to a TV series I’m watching.
Also, some of my co-workers who managed to be up the US, said it was delicious.

  13. True story: I once tried to make bagels. They were lumpy and misshapen. Somehow this all reminds of a song about peaches. Subtle distinction that is not a song by Peaches. No, these peaches came in a can and they were put there by a man.

But for my purposes, the best ones are the one you can pick with your hands. And in the long run fresh peaches are probably better for you than some preservative-laden hockey puck in a bag. Although I do know a place that serves a hell of a bagel breakfast sandwich with a fried egg, avocado slices, and sprouts. Maybe it is good for you, maybe it is not. Sure is tasty tho.

  14. He sat and stared out the window, finger greased and fly-inhabited, blinds open half way. He watched the unfamiliar feet scurry by as they chased kids, rushed to business meetings and lunch dates, subway stations and then back again. The coffee was cold by now and he still hadn’t touched the bagel. His stomach grumbled but he waited longer.

  16. “This has gotta be the best bagel I’ve ever eaten.”

“Is it now?” Marla asked with an arched eyebrow as her friend kept snacking and smacking the asiago.

“Hell, yeah. And the cream cheese? Best cream cheese EVER. This is why California’s amazing. The dairy.”

“Eh, I prefer Irish dairy. I mean, it was a huge part of their rural economy, way back.”

    Marla’s friend frowned. “What?”

    “What?”

  17. I like bagels. So does Ji.

  18. I had a blueberry bagel recently. Not my first, but I remember it clearest. Bagels aren’t a big thing in Australia but they are in America, from what I see on TV. It was a cheap bagel, but with the sugar caramelising, it was just amazing.

  19. I love when I can spread soft butter on bagel. The bagel is toasted and the butter spreads so well that it’s like it’s floating across the surface and filling in every single little crack that it can reach. When you bite into the bagel you can taste the warm butter flood your mouth and it’s like heaven on earth. There is no other feeling like it

  20. Outside it rains, it’s dark and cloudy too
If only I could relax, stretch out a little
But instead I curl into disk
It’s cold; what I want is for a touch of summer gold
The glow, the warmth, the way it flows
I don’t care a lick for ancient prophecies
Nor those supposedly destined to fulfill them
All I need is the hand of God to slip into the frame
And take these weather-soaked reins for a bit

  22. I’d wake up alone in bed to the smell of her cooking. Always something new, something delicious. Never had my kitchen been used so much than when she was around. The fridge is all empty now. I’d rather just eat a bagel and forget her.

  23. Cream cheese melting on the crunchy crust of a freshly toasted bagel. The taste of creamy cheese and sesame filling your mouth. The realization that it is as easy as owning a toaster. The joy of waking up to the smell of warm bread every morning after that. Bagels ♥.

  24. Rather than the big breakfast I usually ate, I only had a bagel on my plate. I wasn’t very hungry. The test I was going to take in an hour or so was throwing me off. I couldn’t think straight, let alone eat. If I passed this test I could bring my grade up…but if not, I might get held back. I just want to make my family proud. I hope this bagel is enough.

  25. Bagels are always disappointing unless you live on east coast USA. No where else lives up to the glory, but yet you still crave them. I need to visit Jersey again

  27. Bagels. They’re actually not that great. Everyone’s always saying “Oh, I need to go, what should I eat because I actually need some nutrition? Oh! A Bagel!” it’s so plain, even with the cream cheese or anything else. It’s a lame donut, that’s what it truly is. I don’t understand the whole hype, you can even buy it by the dozens for goodness sakes. Death to the bagel! Viva La Donut!

  28. bagel bagel bagel its small and delicious

  30. I like bagels, yes I do. I want one right now, with salmon, cream cheese, capers, dill, a little lemon juice and cracked black pepper. I really want some lunch now. I think it’s time to go on a food mission, but now I want a bagel so bad and don’t know where to get one.

  31. Bagels remind me of the backroom at the small shop I used to work at…and of her. A quarter of the reason I’m in this mess.

  32. today I read
    that someone has developed
and egg sandwich with a doughnut for the bread
    that’s just plain silly
    why use that sweet mess
    when all you need
    is a plain, soft bagel
    some egg and sausage
and a tall glass of orange juice

  34. In the mirror, it looked like a bagel, crammed with cream cheese~ perhaps not as appetizing though.

  35. I’m staring intently at my bagel. Did she really just ask me that? What am I supposed to say to that? I guess my mind is just about as out of focus as she is in my peripherals. These sesame seeds are much safer.

  36. oh bagel , how you tempt me. I enjoy you in so many flavors, I drape you in so many delectable spreads. hot or cold, soft or crunchy, I do not discriminate.

  37. Food, breakfast, tasteless, gross, police officer in a coffee shop, Books and Bagels.

  40. I ate the bagel slowly, trying to figure out what I had to do today. College was stressful, but not necessarily hard. I thought I was adjusting well, but I missed my old friends. I had made a few new ones, but they weren’t as close as my old friends. They didn’t make me happy, they didn’t make me love life.
