Sometimes they make things out of the bamboo. They don’t tell us what, but they tell us sometimes, during the hard months, to work harder, harvest twice, even three times as much as usual. I want to know what they are making, but they beat us if we ask questions. We don’t even know what they really look like. They have glowing eyes.

i looked through the bamboo branches that made a short wall in my back yard. he was kneeling on his knee, with a ring in his hand. and he was giving it to my best friend. tears streamed down my face and i turned away. i couldnt handle this anymore. i was done with the sham that i put on as my life.

Bamboo stalks reached to the clear, blue sky, yearning for it’s nourishing sunlight. The leaves fluttered in the barely there breeze.

There was a tall shoot of bamboo that stood majestically amongst the rest. It’s green shoot held high and pointed towards the morning sky. Dew collected on the top of it’s tip as it trickled down to welcome the morning. Next to it, a broken bamboo with a piece of itself hanging. Tragically, it lay on the floor of the dirt

He sat there, whittling, whistling.
A breeze came through, bringing warning of the approaching monsoon. The whistling never ceased. The whittling continued.
A look of triumph and a smirk marked the end of his craftsmanship.
The needle. A hollow tube with a pointed end.
Now only to find that wet noodle…

As the bamboo shoots from the leaves we can hear the pandas rushing to their mothers. We couldn’t tell why they were running, only that it seemed urgent that the pandas see their caregivers. It was only until we heard the unsettling sound of sharp bamboo cuts that we knew something had gone wrong.

Sara closed her eyes, running her fingers along the smooth wood and smiling slightly. She loved the feel of bamboo. It was such a smooth texture, calming was the only way to describe it. She sighed and opened them again, brushing the tips of her fingers down the length of the wood and examining the interesting green color, looking at all the different fibers. She loved Bamboo.

stealthily, the fighter slipped between the bamboo shoots, eyeing his mark. Silently, he crept between them, swishing gently through the nearby brush.
Alerted, his mark widened its gaze, and made off for the horizon. One more day he would have to wait.

once upon a time there was a panda. his name was reddington because his favorite color was red. he didn’t like that bamboo was not red so he would go around eating anything he could find that was red. his parents and friends made fun of him because they thought he was being silly and not acting like a true panda. but one year, the bamboo caught a bug and no one could eat it. reddington taught everyone to eat things other than bamboo, especially his favorite red berries. and so the lesson came that one must not always follow the straight shoots of the bamboo.

bamboo is a very pretty color, and it makes me feel warm and think of pandas.
however, it also reminds me of this time at home, when we had bamboo growing through our deck at our house. we tried and tried to get rid of it, but no matter what we did, it would continue to grow and grow.
event though pandas are really cute…bamboo in my deck is not.
