  2. what the fuck? this hick stuff. sure, there can be beauty in it, but we see it now only as an instrument of the south. i’ve heard it used in amazing music, and i’ve heard hillbilly white trash crap come from it. but the music is art, so we should love it regardless, no?

  3. Country music is something I never really had much of an interest in until I heard of Taylor Swift. And her banjo player is awesome. Just like her fiddler. And her drummer. And her guitarist. And her heart of gold.

  4. i strummed my fingers across the strings. i’ve never been able to play an instrument before, but just by picking this up i feel like i know what to do. it was my dads. he left it for me. i’ve never touched it until now but now it just feels natural. should i play..or leave it to collect dust?

  5. I like banjo, the sound of this. It reminds me old times, cartoons at the tv, because it’s childish. It sounds childish. Yah, c’est comme une guitare quoi, jojojojo. Avec un ours. A big bear with a hat.

  6. a banjo goes lalalalalallalala and lots of joy comes out of it maybe if you like banjos or maybe if you just like nutcrackers because really they have a lot in common but i won’t get into that now for now i will just tell you that pandas are very intelligent creatures and one day we are all sure to die

  8. Drumming at night when I was lonely and knew nothing about music. I bought the drums from my old preschool friend. She doesn’t talk to me anymore- I saw her at work in the store once, she turned away fast and acted like I was never there. Am I that weird now?

  9. Tim strummed on his banjo, a song he’d heard his mother sing. It brought bitter-sweet memories back to him, of a time where he’d been happy even in a bad situation.

  14. while you play the banjo, make sure you have an audience to appreciate the wonderful music that will come from the little instrument that will take you away to the mountains and immerse you in peace!

  19. banjos are quite the interesting musical instrument. when i think of banjos, traveling hobos come to mind, like the hobo in the episode of The Simpsons who tells the family tall tales to pass the time, the price being that Homer has to give the hobo a sponge bath when they reach their destination.

  21. When i pick up the banjo, i can’t help but start grinding out down home bluegrass music. its so beautiful, that my grandfather with crippling arthritis actually got up and danced across the room one time.

  24. Banjos are an instrument that are used in the south. banjos remind me of murder and scary movies because of that one movie. if i ever get lost in the swamps a person with a banjo is the last thing i want to see.

  25. My dad used to be in a garage “banjo” band. They even made it into the newspaper. He still has his banjo, and when I was little, I would get it out and try to play it. It reminds me of country, twangy, annoying songs.

  27. A banjo is a crazy thing. It symbolizes the hilbillies of our age. What would we do without the banjo at all of our hoe downs? How would we square dance? All the rednecks of our generation would be lost without the banjo.

  28. The way he strummed was magical, his calloused fingers pouring out a melody. He sat there, the firelight warming his features, his crow’s eyes turned into caverns. My heart beat along with his song.

  29. Music is the greatest pleasure someone can have. no matter the mood you can always find a song for you. Any musical instrument that has helped with this is a gift. The banjo guitar even a harmonica. its simply amazing how one song can lift your spirits or even bring you to tears.

  30. You never quite really understand the deep south and southern hospitality until you’ve had the sound of a banjo play across your ears. So unique….and unbelievably homely.

  31. Banjo is a scary word for me as I travel in the south. It is the music of much fear and few teeth. No one ever does their master’s study on the great composers of the banjo.

    Adam
  32. the banjo in the country and the sound that hurt my heart with its bittersweetness. The bluegrass of the music and the sweetness touched me. Was it blue? was it grass? he sang and played and that’s when I knew I’d love him forever. I thought about that the day he died.

  33. music, usually made fun of. Not popular today.

  37. Banjos are hard to play. I think. I’ve never actually had to play a banjo. I think it would just be like a guitar, but with a different sound. And a different number of strings? I’m not sure. I really want to play the drums on a banjo. The main part looks so much like a drum. I wonder if it sounds like one?

  38. grandpa plays the banjo. i’ve always looked at it, wishing to play, but i never did. i look at that case, wondering what it was like “back in the day”. i feel so self conscious all the time when i’m there, around anybody at any point in time. i worry bout losing grandma and grandpa all the time, about that banjo.

  40. A banjo is something you play. It is like a guitar, only it has a very different sound, and a different number of strings. It is often associated with the South. It is used sometimes in country songs, not as the main instrument, but as a back up instrument.
