  1. Basic training for officers wasn’t really what she expected. After all, she’d seen her fair share of random war movies, like GI Jane and other fine things, and the drill sergeants really weren’t much for the…drill.

But then maybe fifteen years at the dojo, where her instructors made her bleed and bruise and break whenever they had a chance had something to do with it, because at the end of the second day, she was the only girl in her barracks who didn’t join the group hug and cry.

  2. I feel like this is the basic, like you should understand. I’ve told you how I’ve felt, and it’s obvious you should get it by now. But you don’t, and I don’t know what to do. I just hope that it’ll change, that you’ll change. But, in reality, I know you won’t; nothing will.

  3. I like to keep thinks basic: my make up, my room, my life… I think everyone should try to do that… I think it helps with bonding and understanding one’s self… so yeah

  4. Like the brand of cigerettes she likes to smoke, everything about her is cheap. The smoke had blurred my prospective of her, it had clouded my judgement, made me believe that her ragged drabs were beautiful and her dirty blonde locks adoringly clean, but turns out she was just as cheap as her cigerettes.

  5. It’s simple. Easy. Necessary. And I can’t do it. It’s not working, and I don’t get it. Everyone else can; I can’t. It’s annoying. It should be easy. It should work. But it doesn’t. Not for me. Never for me.

  6. ahh, simple, one, word, basic, boring, wow, wala, bang, chang,

  7. It was basic, he thought. One foot in front of the other. But it was harder than he thought, especially with the more than 3 inches of grey snow that had accumulated on everything and which swirled in the air like a fog and which constricted his throat even though he’d long since wrapped a towel around his face. Basic survival seemd to be looming on his horizon.

  8. Basic words. But they stung all the same. They attacked me, hit me, forcing me to give in, but it was just basic things that I already knew. So why did it hurt so much?

    Philip
  9. It was your basic sunday morning. As usual I woke up, got dressed, and prepared dinner. But all was not the same. Last night I finally did it. I killed him, murdered the bastard as he slept. This morning I fell free, as basic and as simple as a child.

  10. remember when life was basic? me either.

  11. It was the most uninteresting color she’d ever seen: brown. And she was disappointed, at first. Who wanted a plain brown bird? It flitted around happy as any other little bird in a cage, but she hated it for the first few hours. It was brown–she’d wanted blue, or red, or maybe something with a pretty pattern of colors. What she got was brown. But brown that, she discovered, had a pretty pattern worked into its feathers, which she couldn’t see until she convinced the little bird to contemplate hopping onto her finger (it didn’t, not today, but it stayed still and close long enough for her to see the fainter cream and white spots under its breast), and she figured that even brown birds could have pretty colors, and brown wasn’t always only brown.

  12. So, basically, I give up. It’s too much work, too many headaches, too much disappointment. Everything seems to be pitted against me, and this isn’t the life I’m after. What I want is to pursue MY dreams. What I want is to write for the rest of my life.

  13. basic. black. simple. simply, basically, wonderful. basic.

  15. basic. well, what can you write about that word? especially when you’re native language isn’t even English, which means your knowledge of this language is maybe just above basic. I think no one really knows, how to define basic. and one should not forget, it has also something to do with chemistry.

  17. Basic, such a weird word. Makes me think of having less, but enough. Everything that you need, but not more. Also, it is a rock to start with, figuratively speaking.

  18. Basically. I hate that word. Just like I hate it when people say “literally” when they don’t actually mean it. “I literally split my sides.” No you didn’t. If you’d split your sides your guts would be all over the floor. Learn what the word sodding means. I dislike that people have just bad use of the English language.

  22. Again Basic. Ok this time I am not going to write about Dr. Pineda. The basics are the easiest things around? Lets go back to the basics here in the class room. I wish I had homework like when I was in Kinder. Color? Now there is something that I can do! and on a nightly basis give me coloring homework every night! I wish I could go back to elementry school and take naps and eat cookies todos los dias.

  23. 1.2.3. parts & pieces. it begins. it ends. I expect nothing more than a cardboard box. empty.

  24. Basic. What kind of word is that. Five letters I have to write sixty seconds about. I do not like it. The sound, the idea… It is just so standard! Why does it have to be basic? Why not special?

    Boris

  26. Going off a simply basic design, many things can be beautiful. Take the little black dress, for example. The world tells young girls that everyone needs at least one of these. Also, rooms can be tasteful with just a basic design. It looks cleaned up and gorgeous.

  27. Merlin curses under his breath, shoves the letter under his pillow. It’s troubling how difficult he finds this. He’s Merlin. Able to control magic and time and save Camelot every other day, but he can’t complete a task as basic as this. He can’t even write a little old love letter.

  28. It’s so basic that it doesn’t make any sense. The simplicity of life, if brought down to a certain level, is so confusing that it can make you insane. There’s only one this that can be said about this, and one this only…

  30. It’s just so basic. Nothings special anymore. Nothing has that extra feeling, that extra push, that extra touch to get my attention. To get anyones attention. It’s mediocre, boring, and just not as vibrant as the world is meant to be. It’s too basic. You know… you and me.

  31. When he asked me what kind of wedding ring I wanted, I balked at the idea of a diamond ring set. Give me a plain band of silver with a heart, a crown and hands atop another band made white gold with your name inscribed on the inside. I’m just that unrefined; I’m just that basic. I love that your name should become mine just as your loyalty, friendship and love. Silver and Gold. There’s more symbolism in this statement than in anything a large diamond could reflect.

  35. My life was basic. I woke up in the mornings, shuffled off to school half asleep, and sat through class every day. I texted my best friend about my endless crushes on the boys I knew. I kept up with all the drama that enveloped my weekends. I would never expect something to happen out of the blue to change all of that so quickly. When I heard the news, it was like a gunshot beginning the race to the finish line. Except, in this reality, the race was a constant struggle and crossing the finish line meant never coming back.

Basic rule #4: Eat well and plenty.
Basic rule #5: Don’t forget rules #3 and #4. You’re ass may depend on them someday.

  37. I felt the thirst burning in my throat. My ice blue eyes glanced from the lifeless, bloody bodies before me to the other vampires in the room. They devoured their prey as though they hadn’t eaten in a week. I closed my eyes, but the delicious scent filled my nostrils. The basic need for a vampire to survive was blood, but it didn’t mean I needed to be a murderer. That’s what blood banks were for. I started to reason with myself, these humans were already dead, it wouldn’t make me a monster. I clinched my fists and backed out of the room. No! Basic willpower had to be a must

  40. That was the basis of life, to keep it as basic as possible. And that’s what I did, I lived day by day, doing everything is simply as I could. I wouldn’t go out of my way to do things at a higher level, nor would I try to do more than what people expected. Seeing the pleased look on people was always fascinating, they’d gotten exactly what they’d ask for, which is a rarity in this day in age.
