  10. Belief. It’s a simple six letter word. But is it simple at all? It comes hand in hand with such a great meaning. It’s all encompassing. It requires faith. It requires trust. It requires a lot of other components. So is it simple at all?

  11. beliefs matter but only when they have a rational basis, for what is a belief without reasoning. the reasoning to the belief can be much more important than the belief itself because if you can understand the reasoning behind your beliefs you can modify the reasoning and then believe different things.

  15. The first night. I read him a story, I make sure it’s a happy one. I imitate the characters and he laughs. When the story is over he lets himself fall onto his pillow and closes his eyes, and I pull the covers up to his chin. I stand up, and just before I turn off his bedside lamp, he looks at me, his eyes catching the light. “When is she coming back?” he asks, and I think of how I can answer the question satisfactorily, without lying, and without saying, “You believe she’s still alive?”

  16. Modern day Christianity isn’t a religion. Or at least it shouldn’t be. It’s more of a relationship, it’s a relationship with God. It’s a relationship with people, that reflects your relationship with Him. That’s the way it was meant to be.

    Kaiden certainly didn’t. She didn’t want to know, even. However, that changed when she got hit by the truck.

    She didn’t have a choice. It was out the world she knew, and into something else. She wasn’t sure what would happen, or who the girl in black was.

  18. Religion isn’t something you feel, it’s something that you live. Whether it’s in the belief in one monotheistic God or many it’s better to have beliefs than to not have any. To me belief is one of the most important steps in any religion. Christianity especially.

  19. in myself….not in god, but in something bigger than myself and others, a shared conciousness. Conflicting belief is hard to reconcile, shows our warring aggressive animal natures. We all have a right to our own beliefs, but we do not have the right or should not have the right to kill one another for the sake of them.

  25. i don’t know what i believe sometimes. there are so many things in this world you can believe in, should believe, and believe in blindly. i suppose i am glad to know i believe in people, and myself to determine how to proceed from there.

  34. belief. i’d be contradicting this entire piece if i said that i believed i knew what the word really meant. to understand, maybe? or to be convinced? i think, truly, that it means to trust your gut feeling, that pit in your stomach that you know is pointing you in the right direction.

  35. Belief is when you know he will be there for you. Belief is when you feel that he is always with you, no matter how far apart you really are. Belief is when you can feel his warmth, his heart, his soul wrapping his arms around you. Belief is when you can trust him with your heart and know he will never break it.
