“My mind knows,” I say, “my body needs more practice.” My legs are not quite in splits, my nose does not touch the floor, but still I walk my hands forward, going as close as I can. I think it is good for them to see a teacher learning, to know that even adults don’t have it all figured out but to keep trying.
the tree was bent, broken, branches at odd angles and the split trunk sticking up from the ground like some twisted mockery of survival. because what could it do but survive? the harsh terrain it had grown in, now its ultimate destruction.
