  4. She planted and she planted. The dirt was so dry, and it hadn’t rained in so long, it meant that nothing would probably come of it, but she couldn’t stop. God no. Maybe one day they’d be flowers, if only for her mind.

She liked the sound of that. Flowers for her mind.

  5. The imagination of a human child can reach the pinnacle of excellence when there is that one flash of ingenuity no one thought to be possible before. That one moment where the world can be seen through a double lense rather than a mirror of reflection. If at once they could hold on to that peering thought of minute perfection the world can be a dry and lonely place where all is not lost, but suddenly found.

  6. The light swung from the rafters in the dusty old cathedral, the moss of ages sat moldering on the stone, and the air was thick with history. It was long since torches were used, and the light hid more than it revealed.

  7. So the bulb was mottled and injured, broken. He cursed. It was the last one he had, the last of the other ones he’d managed to salvage from the garden. Her garden. He wanted to weep, cry, scream. Because this one wouldn’t grow. He would lose the last memory he had of her. She would be dead forever, just like her garden.

    He let the bulb fall.

  11. The bulb hung from the ceiling by a chain, dim, stark against the already stark concrete walls of the cell. He didn’t know what they thought the would get out of him. If it was torture, he’d probably survived worse. If it was interrogation, well, he could out-chat the best of them. And if it was killing…that was an entirely different matter. He was probably the best killer of them all.

Because he didn’t need a gun or knife.

    He was Gabriel.

He could kill with his mind.

    He was a telepath.

  12. Light… The only way to see what you’re doing, where you’re going. What you do next… is to see clearly. We’ve been blessed with a natural source. But when the moon shines and sun is asleep… We may settle for… the bulb. lol

  13. bulb? Bulbasaur is my favorite pokemon. He has vine whip and, most importantly, Razor Leaf. Once you get Razor Leaf, the game is over – a fifty-five damage critical hit-assured attack? Give me a break. Charizard doesn’t get that until like, level fifty five. Hah! Two fifty-fives in one paragraphy.

Paragraphy? That’s a rather bulbous protruberance on the end of that word. Was Thomas Edison’s head bulbous?

  19. the bulb flashed and dimmed as the man entered the room. I was still sitting in the chair, staring at the empty desk, but then, it’s not like i had a choice. The man didn’t touch or acknowledge me as he strode confidently into the room. When he sat in the desk, he looked surprised to see me.

  20. I’ve had a lot of problems with these new florecense light bulbs. I don’t think they are that great. Sure, they fit in the sockets of the other bulbs, but I’ve had to replace all three of them within about a year, and they were supposed to be the great bulb that didn’t need replacing in like several years. So much for that!!

  24. there once was a light bulb. I had to fix it. It was dead. It lay on top of the ceiling, in a great big chandelier that covered my dining room table. we were having people over that day. It was a rainy day, and although it was mid october, my parents still insisted i change that light bulb. I wanted one of those more green ones since these were really bad for the environment, but my parents thought i should get the other kinds. I got them anyway.

  25. “The impossibility of the thing should never deter us from approaching.”

My mother had said this to me when I was a boy. On more than one occasion. If I was timid, it was always with this ice cold, one line lecture. The more I heard it, the more nervous I became, the less I could overcome my fear.

The prhase came rushing back to me, twenty years later, as I stood in a dirt path and stared down a wild lion.

People change light bulbs when they die. there are jokes about how many people does it take to change a light bulb. I don’t find them very funnny usually. But many people do like them. I can’t think of any right now, but there are so many! Jokes are good when they are funny. Bulbs can also be plants.

  35. Whenever my light bulb goes out it is one of the most annoying things. I will have to climb the bed, after speaking a long while finding said light bulb, unscrew the light and find some sort of way to remember the left loosey, righty tighty rule–which I seemingly forget each time I have to put in a new one.

After much sweat and time is put in, finally, with a flick of a switch and a toss of the old, burnt out glass, it lights up my room once more.

    Cassandra

  40. the sound of glass breaking on the floor made me think it was the light blub. I flew out of bed. After checking the bathroom, I noticed the blub was still in it’s socket.
