  1. Cards are something he had a lot of trouble writing. What was he supposed to say on this damned thing? That he cared for her. Wouldn’t she just see that as an act of desperation? But wasn’t that exactly what he was: desperate. Yeah, no use lying is there?

  2. I used to play this tcg (trading card game) with my friends growing up, called magi-nation. I’d always have to pretend like I didn’t actually play it, because, honestly, what could be nerdier than playing with something called magi-nation cards. It was a lot of fun though. I miss those days.

  8. cards are what I always forget to remember. Funny because they are meant as a sort of “hey i remembered, here is a piece of paper to prove it” I remember the events, just not to buy a stupid paper.

  9. We played cards drunk at my house every night last winter. We played poked with pennies as chips because we didn’t have any. We got drunk as we played. We got stoned as we played. And we never even remembered who won or lost but all of the silly things we talked about while we played made it worthwhile. I used to play gin rummy with my mom when I was a kid. It was sort of our game. We kept score in notebooks that went on for pages and pages.

  10. I play cards all the time. Spades, Hearts, Poker…I feel empowered..knowing my hand..knowing I have something that others can only guess about. My secret..do I expose it? Or do I spoil my secret?

  11. Here came the week.
    Lights were on trees.
    Everyone was jolly.

    This is a tale
of a girl who sat at her table.

    She poured in heart
    into holiday cards.

    She handed them out,
    a smile on her face.

    You’d think everyone
    would admire her grace.

    Something personal
    in each and every one.

    Her feet were tired,
    she’d given a ton.

    The things written in them
    would bring you to tears.

    She did this
    many times over the years.

    But no one appreciated
    her thoughtful words.
To them, none of the gifts
    had any worth.

    Then, the day was done,
    she’d return home,
    and there stood the tree,
    the underneath empty, solemn, alone.

  21. There were cards on the table. They sat there, untouched except for by the wind that passed every so often. He stared at them and thought back on days of his youth and wondered just when and how he had become who he was and landed where he was at.

He peered around the street corners, over the crowds looking for any sign of the police when suddenly a hand reached out and he blinked, as he looked before him, to see a man flip over the card. “Sorry,” he said, pausing to look at the card the man had chose, “Better luck next time.”

He quickly swiped the cards and shuffled them again as he smiled at the dissatisfied customer.

    Better luck next time, indeed.

  32. cards are a way to get together with friends and mingle. usually a card game will be poker because everyone understands it. however one can also play rummy or go fish although poker is most popular. people bet money for power which turns into fights and death if not careful. for that reason poker and other games of chance are illegal in most states. if the cops catch you you are screwed.

  34. playing various card games is a way of life. being with friends, nothing to do, turning to the simple game of cards is an easy and bonding thing to do. So many options in such a small amount of space. cards are infinate, with any number of possibilities and experiances. If life had so much to offer as this it would be a better place.

  38. Is it in the cards for you and me to be forever? Can we trust to fate to seal a future worth a memory? I hate fate. I hate trusting. Let’s make our own destiny, you and I; defy the world and the sky and the cards. Let’s make our own future, our home and our fates together, and if destiny is to take a hand, let’s make sure we’ve got the aces to beat it.

  39. Cards. Every year she gets so many. Simple cards, made of scrap linen with flowers tied to them. Elaborate affairs trimmed with lace and perfumes. But what she wants most, really, is just something from the elf travelling together with her. Something more than nods and ‘mm-hm’s muttered distractedly while he reads his books.

  40. cards. What to write? Hallmark? Notecard? UMMMM wow that green bar creates pressure. Well I’ll just write about cards and ignore what is going on around me. I enjoy receiving cards. Not hallmark cards, and not notebook cards. Homemade cards. They are always nice and lift spirits
