  5. Castaway, the left overs, the things that are left behind when everyone else moves on. The leftovers that stick out as the unwanted and unloved and yet nothing is absent of value. Even among the castaway there can still be the beautiful, the friendship, Wilson.

  8. There was a bird on the rock and a rock by the shore that floated without a sound and without a boredom-like thought. The doorbell was ringing and the phone was off the hook again, but I’d forgotten about bells. I looked at the rock that was floating, somehow floating, and saw that there were white rims on the waves. I saw that there were white rims like the little white lace edges on my skirt and for a moment, the bird fluttered and I guessed it was me.

  9. Did you ever see that movie castaway? Who really cares if you did. Every year there are thousands of castaways who make it to this country when their little rafts sink as they are fleeing their pathetic country to live off of my tax dollars.

  13. Castaway- sometimes I feel like a castaway. Alone on the little island of my mind. That’s no fun but it is true. I get off the island sometimes- go out and about to make myself less lonely. Sometimes I don’t feel like a castaway. Sometimes I like my life.

  18. the animalistic being trapped within his own mind amidst a society so grey with fogged perception that he is an, outcast, a castaway. Thriving on the solemn ships of his imagination, wishing for a place where he could simply….exist.

  22. The island was barren, empty. All that lay at my feet were bottles–broken, green, reflecting the bright sun that scarred my eyes. I looked at my feet and they were burning, the sand was destroying them, eating them up. I didn’t want to be a castaway on this island–but does anyone in my situation ever have a choice?

  24. Tom Hanks and Wilson in Castaway. A clear contradiction to our way of life- spoiled, luxurious, over indulgent. Talk about being self sustainable… emotionally, environmentally, everything. Tom Hanks and Wilson, they did it. Good for you Tommy.

    Mariah Wakefield
  25. Not again.

    Not again, please.

“Shut up. You love popcorn night. Look, Castaway’s on tonight.”

It’s Monday night, and every Monday night the local movie channel always has some sappy movie on. But it’s not the movie I hate.

“Come on, we’ll share the popcorn this time.”

I can’t wait until I get away from him. And it’s not him I hate, either.

“What’s wrong? Something on my face?”

No, darling. There’s something wrong with *me*.

  26. I was sitting on the island, just thinking. It didn’t seem like anyone would be coming by any time soon, and I was getting rather hungry. But what did I expect. When you get thrown off a ship for being a stowaway, such is life.

    Amy Stockdale
  27. cast adrift and lost – its a rough sea and the tides never seem to align. cast away on this drift wood, lost and living the dream.

    sue fricke
  28. He was a castaway. Not in the traditional sense, not. He hadn’t been lost at sea in a horrible storm, heck, he’d hadn’t been on a boat in years. Despite this, he couldn’t help but notice the wary stares he recieved from the other kids. They knew he was different as well as the adults, though they’d never been told. He was a castaway. Shunned from society as no young boy should, and if it weren’t for his family, he probably wouldn’t have survied as long as he did, and he wouldn’t be as strong as he is.

    Miss Melon
  29. Reminds me of the movie with Tom Hanks. And how he made his friend named Wilson, and how sad people were when he lost that volleyball. Sadder than some people feel when they lose a human being. Strange how we can attach ourselves so much to movie characters and not real people…

    Katie
  30. The castaway watched as the tall ship grew smaller and smaller on the horizon. One shot in a rusty revolver and a lifetime alone ahead, the future was bleak. As she turned towards the jungle the silhouette of the ship that carried her betrayers away was swallowed up in the shimmering disk that was the sun.

  31. on the island a man was shipwrecked with his faithful companion the dog Merlot. The dog was named Merlot because that man shipwrecked on the island was a drunk. he did not enjoy anyone else except for Merlot and his dog, and even then the dog had his doubts. Shipwrecked, the dog learns the ways of the island and the mans gets drunk….

  32. He was on an island and saw sees nothing around him. There is nothing but water, clear blue, friendly and nothingness to go with it. There it is. A castaway. Too simple? Perhaps. Perfect nonetheless.

    Christina

  35. There once was a siren on a distant shore who lured me in, and I let her take me away… I’ve always had a fear of the vast sea… but that knowing call was enough for me.

    Inora
  36. the things that make you real. get rid of them, cast them away and move forward. make progress in imagination. reality is overrated anyway.

  37. I¥ve been marooned on this Island for a longer time than I like to think. My old captain dumped me here, like sewage that weighed down the ship, on a whim. He didn¥t even leave me a pistol with a shot for me to end my time here. He wants me to suffer on this godforsaken spit of land.

    Siggi
  38. The movie, tom hanks. Isolation, I feel like one sometimes. Wilson? Ummm. Being on a beach. No one around. Some sort of trauma. Want to go home.

    Sofia
  39. sometimes i feel like this is what i am in college. i feel like i’m out on my own little island and everyone else has it all figured out in their own little lives. i kind of feel like life is passing me by. can that be? can i be a castaway in my own life? in my own world? i hope not. i don’t want to be. i want to be involved in it, not left to the side.

    Leah Jarvis
  40. I am alone.
    And so are you.
    Clearly, we should be friends.
And we can play, and we can sing, and we can have fun.
    Where are you going?
    We are friends!
    Oh.
You were not alone, after all.
Why am I the only castaway around here?
