  1. There’s a deeper being in everyone of us. Sometimes it takes the place of the angel on our shoulder, and sometimes it’s the uncontrollable urge we feel in the deepest parts of ourselves. And sometimes, some more often than others, we dip down and dig in with our fingers and toes, and breathe it in. We let it blanket over us, we let it suffocate us. We just want more, we don’t care if it’s wrong, or right, or somewhere in between. We just want the purity of it all. We don’t want the burden or success, we just want the satisfaction. That’s how I feel when I wrap my fingers around myself and squeeze.

    Gigi R.
  2. The moon was brighter than she had ever seen it. As she lay in the grass, her glaze on the moon she couldn’t help but wonder if she would ever get to go up their. She wanted it with every fiber of her being. Space. It was calling her, beckoning her.

  3. Celestial objects, beings from above. Guide me, join me. Teach how to rise above and how to fall from the heavens. I wish only to be like you, to join you in eternal life. The darkness made bright by our very souls. Chasing demons from the sky and from the dreams of mortals below. Make me great like you.

  4. Celestial bodies. They knew a longevity that outshone the longest-surviving archaeological finds. The sky gave Mike a comfort: no matter where he ended up, or where the Earth ended up, the stars would still be there, and they would still be beautiful, a sort of beauty that transcended subjectivity; comets would still be plummeting towards the sun and then turning forever away in hyperbolic escape. Astronomy was, to him, learning about the stuff that lasted.

  6. I looked up and saw that the sky was swirling, both in reality and in my head. I couldn’t tell which was which, or which was more, which made it swirl harder, and I had to look away for a moment. The moon was an earth, and the earth was a tiny moon.

  7. Celestial Seasonings. That was the brand of tea. On the label there were two bears. I think it was called “Sleepy Time.” It sat on the counter top between the two of us, the lid half open, the smell of mint and chamomile lightly wafting up to mingle with all the other kitchen smells. I played with my mug, there was a chip on the handle. You noticed and offered to replace the blemished one, but I was fine with it. What is life without a few imperfections, right? The kettle whistled over your shoulder, but for once in my life I was too shy to move. But to be fair, I wasn’t the one who suggested tea. My only part in this was that I had accepted the offer.

  8. The word was almost as lovely as she was, her curvy form draped with shining cloth and her head adorned with a crown of jewels. Exquisite, delicate, lovely in her form, but the centuries had worn on her, and her eyes were filled with a bitter sadness. Her shoulders slumped in resignation and her voice was hoarse from disuse when she spoke, “I believed once too, little star.”

  9. I looked up at the sky and understood that it was swirling, both in reality and in my head. I couldn’t tell which was which, or which was more, which made it swirl so hard I had to look away for a moment. The moon was earth, and the earth was a tiny moon

  11. there was a star above my head and I thought to myself that it was pretty bright but not the most it could be, and then I realized that the star was me and I had the urge to cry as well as blacken myself out. Isn’t it a shame when people make you feel worthless when you could be worth so much? You were so beautiful in telling me that I had changed into something darker, when I was trying to shine.

    Melissa

  16. There was a celestial scale explosion, and pieces of the sky started falling down. Mountains crumbled, and the sun fizzled to a pale glow. – At least it seemed like that to Frank, when Julie said that she didn’t want to see him any more…

  22. The stars were lit up in colors I hadn’t known it was possible for stars to be. They always looked kind of silvery-white to me before, but they were different somehow that night.
