  5. The band classes at school always played beautiful music that I could hear from outside during school. They’d play with the windows open, and the music would go all the way up to the third floor, and on summer days, it made classes serene. It inspires me to be musical, to a point..

  16. i love my cello. once, as i sat in the hallway practicing before class, a boy approached me. he inquired quietly about my cello. “Do you play often” he asked.
“Not enough.” I am trying to get into Ithaca College’s music school. but I didnt practice enough.
    I walked away, disheartened.

  17. i have a friend who plays the cello like no one i have ever seen before. inspiration. it’s beautiful, the music, flowing out of not only the polished wooden instrument but also from every pore of his body, and i have always wanted to be able to create something that beautiful, but i’ve never gotten quite as far as he does every time, his eyes closed, his fingers on the strings and the bow, his soul creating the beauty.

  23. The thrum, thrum, thrum of the wooden instrument rang through the cabin. Such a comfort in these stormy waters. The man who played the instrument looked up, pale eyes alight, for but a moment, then returned to his playing.

There were some things that one could always enjoy, even when on the high seas.

  24. I always wanted to play the cello. It was class, intelligence, beauty, elite. My mom wouldn’t let me play the cello. Sounded too grating she said. Just one of the many ways my mother stood in the way of my life.

  27. Put the cello to your heart and play. The vibrations pour through your soul and it matters not if you know how to play music because the instrument plays you, purposefully and with wit and charm and you will never be the same!

  28. My roommate plays the cello. I love listening to her practice. She is so talented! I wish I could be as great at an instrument as she is at the cello.

  29. The cello is a fat instrument. I told Brian that it reminded me of a little old lady with lots of cats. He laughed at that, but continued playing. Despite my loathing for that odd shaped instrument, it sounded beautiful when he played it. I think that’s when I realized I liked him…and the cello, too, by default.

  30. I have always loved to hear the cello. In fact Patrick used to play his sax and it sounded just like the cello. That’s why I loved hearing him play so much. He was talented. I wonder where he is now – it would be nice to hear about his life.

  33. The cello is some type of instrument. I think it is similar to a large violin but I’m not sure. I’m pretty ignorant about music, I think this is because my parents never really were interested and thus I never cultivated an interest. And I think it is weird that unlike other things, I’m not even interested in cultivating an interest.

  34. the cello makes me think of old wood, the beautiful dark color and the smell of the rich grain. once you strike a cord it echoes in its belly. bringing a deep aching sound that hits your heart like a lightning bolt.

  35. This is like a large violin. It is used in an orchestra and is the 2nd largest string insrument not inclusding the harp. It is large. Very large. It has a silent h.

  36. The deep, clear sound of a cello never ceases to catch my attention when played. It’s a beautiful, thick, but sensitive “hum” that is thought by most, myself included, to be breathtaking.

  37. My friend plays the cello, or used to, and she was really good. After a while she moved on to piano, and then quit to become anorexic and bolemic, and didn’t have any hobbies at all.

  38. I love the sound of the chello. I first was enticed by this instrument at the playing of the national anthem at a robotics event. I also saw a couple bands last summer who made good use of the chello, namely Ra Ra Riot. They sound so majestic.
