  1. I was climbing higher thant he brids, the sky was at my fingertips and the clouds were cookie cutter shapes in the sky.
I climbed so far that the rock stopped and the invisible stairs began, up and up.
    until…
    the clouds turned to smoke
and I was plunging back down into the murky waters of my addiction.

  2. I like to go climbing with my dad. Rock climbing, that is. My mom doesn’t understand it, but then again, my dad doesn’t really understand the appeal in the whole “running thing”. I think that a lot about climbing is the idea in conquering the top, reaching the unreachable. It’s a very id-like experience, as well, with sore hands and feet but rewarding and dirty, at the end.

Ivy climbs up the trellis. Is a trellis like a ladder-type thing that’s made specifically for ivy? I think so.

  7. to climb is the pinnacle of success – to get to where you’re going is beyond expectation and desire. to get to where you’re going is an achievement that many do not make in their lifetimes – they must return and begin the climb again. sometimes they fall. some get up and start again, others declare the climb too hard and simply stop –

    Myella

  11. To climb is to trancend the majest that is in fact the greatest obstacle posed to mankind: a steep inclination of truns and crannys and -oh, who am I kidding. To climb is nothing special, and such a feat has been accomplished time and time again through the ages.

    Jack Lemmon
  12. I climb the tree outside all the time and every day I think to myself I will jump off a higher branch. Today I think I have found the highest branch there is. But for the life of me I can’t find a reason to jump. The view up here is so nice I want to stay for the sun set. People can’t bother me up here and I know that I am way higher than them.

    Scott Thorpe

  14. Climb is a pointless word. Various more intelligent sounding words can be used in the place of climb, ascend, scale and many others, all of which make you sound more intelligent and confident, I therefore urge the public to never say this insipid word ever again, together we can defeat redundancy.

  18. The man was standing at the base of the cliff getting his gear together when he saw the grizzly charging. He leapt and scrabbled up the rock face, no time to think, then he slipped down and the bear put his fore arm in her jaws, and tore off the arm at the elbow. He began climbing again, now weak with blood. He made it up 20 feet, to a ledge. Then he looked down. He had never seen a grizzly climb rock so well.

    Dennis Hassell
  19. THIS IS WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU WANT TO ASCEND. ITS FANTASTIC BECAUSE IT LETS YOU GET FROM ONE PLACE LOWER THAN THE OTHER TO ANOTHER PLACE HIGHER THAN THAT. THIS IS HOW YOU GET TO MOUNT EVEREST. DON’T LET ANYONE FOOL YOU, THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT. YOU DON’T GET TO MOUNT EVEREST BECAUSE YOU HAVE WATER AND O2, BUT BECAUSE YOU CAN CLIMB!

    MALVIKA BHATIA
  20. climbing is a fun thing to do on a sunny day when the wind is blowing in your face. it seemingly gives into your animal like wants and needs. monkeys have fun with it, and so do i.

  21. I was climbing up the side of the old building, but I couldn’t get my footing just right. The entire place smelled like piss, and the walls were chalky to the touch. But the second story seemed so promising, so wildly high and full of possibility. Besides, I bet the people who piss in old houses without stairs are often not caught climbing their way to upper stories. The booze hinders the climbing quite a bit, I’d think. Though, who knows. Maybe it makes them fearless.

Unfortunately he fell out of the tree and broke his arm =/. After that, mom didn’t let me climb up the tree any more.. I still climb up the tree from time to time now though. Same tree that’s still in my front yard.

  24. My biggest fears are all right in front of me. A towering mountain, thousands of miles high awaits me. I look at it, theres no turning back now. I tread up, short paniky breaths are all I can take. After a few minutes, I am paralyzed with fear. My biggest fear-heights-has finally made me confront it.

  25. to the highest peak imaginable. Not physically but spiritually. Simple push your self to the highest point you find imaginable, climb higher. Don’t stop, your not dead yet. You must keep climbing. Further, further, just keep climbing. Then the day comes where you climb no more.

  26. I climbed. I climbed and climbed. It was intense. The wind was everywhere; birds circled me; the rocks punctured the creases in my hands, gripping so close and so hard to that rock. I couldn’t climb. I couldn’t go any further. I looked down; oh God, I looked down. Down was down indeed, a very down place was below me on my climb. I had to continue.

  33. He climbed on top of the hill, the pygmies still gathered below, screaming, and he wondered how a simple trip to Dairy Queen had turned into this. That he hadn’t been too fond of the helicopter ride was true. That still didn’t make this any easier, even if he could say “I told you so” to the helicopter pilot right before they crashed.

    James Toner
