  1. “Pass it here,” she commanded.
    “Pass what?” I wondered back patiently.
    “The thingy,” she flapped her hands frustratedly at me, “the thingy!”
    I looked around the room exasperated. There were many thingy’s which she could be referring to. She clapped her hands with sudden excitment as her eyes lit up with realisation.
    “The controller! The remote controller! Thats what I want!”
    I smiled and leaned forward to hand it to her. It was always a relief when words returned to her.

  3. Controllers remind me of playing video games at my friend’s houses when I was in middle school. Coincidentally, it also reminds me of the smell of Doritos and farts.

  5. in figurative language, we can say that controllers can either be to control objects or people. the truth is that in a world conditioned as ours few can perceive when they are being conditioned to do as they wish. It is like we have a enormous puppeteer that we are not aware of.

  6. Did you ever feel like you wanted to just give control of your life to someone else? Maybe things would be easier if they just had a “life controller.” Sometimes I wish that. I’m so indecisive, that maybe someone else making my decisions for me would be better. Or maybe I could control something else in someone else’s life…

  8. Controlling. I often feel the need to control other people, does that make me a controller? I want what’s best for my friends and family, does that make me a controller? Do I force people to do what they don’t want to do against their will? Am I a controller?

  11. remotely grabbing and changing the world in which i see. The controller is the one that tells the world how to act, react, and be. controlling things out of our control is the leading cause of stress and angst. I have been both out of control and in control at different times in my life.

  12. Anyone else remember the original xbox controller? That thing felt like you were holding a big plastic hamburger with buttons. I still think playstation controllers are the worst and the N64 controller is eternally the best. Also, I’m a geek.

  16. The boss’ wife at the music video production company was the controller. I mean, she did the accounting. She also might have been the controller in the other sense as well. Wait, maybe the term is “comptroller” and not controller at all?

    Other thought: when my 4-year-old son doesn’t want to do something he says, “My control hurts.”

  18. The batteries in this damn thing run out too fast. We are constantly changing them as the kid is constantly on the x-box. I think he is going to wear the darn thing out. Anyone know who much a new controller will cost? Oy…..

  19. My little brother turned the controller and his body while playing mario kart racing. Again, a sad sunday morning. The poor boy will never know anytihng more than videos on Sunday, what about church, what about faith, what about the love of his parents? Twisted, just like the cord attached to the junky controller that often needed a good knock to function.

  34. Lack of self-control caused me to grab the remote from my husband, who in return hugged me until I gave it up. Then we turned off the TV and switched to other, better things.

  35. THe fat controller strolled down the platform for his customary chat with Thomas the Tank Engine. He had just had a great morning controlling the things that needed controlling and was feeling good and in control. Thomas liked the fat controller because he was good at his job.

  39. I was going to write something about a relationship. I was going to write something about video games. I was going to write something about God and how he is the controller of everything. But guess what? I control what I write, and I don’t want to write about the word ‘controller’ because nothing sounded right.
