  7. we all had congregated at the corner shop. It was a favourite hang out of all the local teenagers. It was under our block of flats so there was a roof that you could stand under when it rained, as was usually the case. The proprietor of the shop Mr Draycott was not at all fond of any of us.

Sometimes, when I’m walking around the corner of a building or of a hallway, I wish there’d be a stranger approaching from the other side, so that we’ll crash into each other and be forced to communicate. There’ll be a nervous apology from both parties, then a shuffling to stand back up again, then maybe an introduction, if we’re not in too much of a hurry. That never happens, though.
