  2. I danced when I was a kid, was going to learn point. Now I’ve got screwed up ankles and all I want to do is ballet again. I loved spinning and leaping – my dance teacher called me Peter Pan because I flew across the tiny studio, higher than anyone else in the class. They all thought the idea was distance. I knew it was flying. I was going to get as high as I could. Up up up up.

  6. I twirled about on the stage, my mind flying with my feet as my hair was flung out behind me in a whorl. As I leapt and jumped I could feel the judges’ eyes on me, but I felt freer and more uninhibited than I ever had before. Once my pointe shoes hit the hardwood floor again I was flying past them, without a single care in the world running through my mind.
