  1. Your words are strung all over my heart like tacky decorations at an office Christmas party. I want to take them down but I do not for fear of losing you completely. Maybe I will someday when a newer, better you walks into my life with a brighter, more colorful decor. They’ll probably stay up forever though as a constant reminder of what could have been.

  2. Decorations were wildly strung around the house. No order or placement whatsoever. Mom and Dad looked flabbergast. I stood just on the other side of my brother, and we both, for once, had no words to say. The decorations were not that. They were the remains of a party, and our parents knew that instantly.

  4. I remember being in probably fifth grade, and going to my dearest friends’ house to help them prepare for their birthday party. The twins and I rushed around in a flurry of decorating thrill and covered every surface with pretty things. We hung gossamer billows of crepe paper from the staircase and blew up an army of balloons.

  5. The decorations were right out of her nightmare. Why she had to fall in love with a Midwestern Christian, she didn’t know. Her mother-in-law had clearly been collecting the best and the tackiest Christmas decorations for the past 40 years, and the house looked like a nightmare she used to have as a kid.

  6. Christmas! My latest fond memory of Christmas is in recent years when my four-year-old grand-niece was in America for her first Christmas. We thought she was going to just burst from the excitement.

  7. Over the top. Too much. unnecessary. We look to embellish that which is already beautiful with decorations. Strip the decorations away, and what do you have? Pure, honest truth. The essence of who you are or what you are trying to convey.

  8. She walked out of the Sacramento Airport with an air of greatness. She was bedazzled head to toe . . looking glorious in the California sunshine. She was dressed in her leopard jammies – no one would know, would they? What with her hair done and all those distracting decorations? After all, it was a long flight.

  9. Decorations are for birthday parties. They also can be used to furnish houses and make them look pretty. Just parties in general. The word decorations has a party feel to it, and it makes you think of a fiesta type mood.

  10. People decorate their homes for any special occasion be it a birthday party, a festival, a death ceremony or at office. Decorations make the place look very beautiful and attractive.

  11. His back ram-rod straight, he looked at the people around him as he received the metal. The adoration. The boredom. The pain. His family watched him carefully, aware of the truth. That being decorated had come at a price. And that price was peaceful nights and a clear conscience.

There was blood on that badge.

  12. I love decorations. They make any party seem more concise, more festive, and more exciting. Decorations are the best when they are all consistent and include glitter. Anything that includes glitter is a win in my book. Why live life all boring and plain, when you can add the glitz and glamour of decorations to spicen it up?

  13. Easter was one of my favorite holidays, seeing as the decorations were full of bright colors and the happiness level was brought up a notch. As the families got together for the feast, I would be able to thank the Lord for all that He had given me.

  14. Halloween was just around the corner, and my mother was already coating the house in oranges, blacks, and whites. Even my room was draped with spooky decorations that I didn’t ask for, and was quite frankly frightened by the stuffed ghosts seated on my windowsill…

  15. The best thing about Christmas markets in Germany when I grew up were the decorations. They were nothing like the ones in the US where I’d started growing up. There was wood everywhere, things carved, that looked hand-made and their St. Niklaus was tall and thin, not short and fat. I preferred their decorations to ours then & still do today.

  16. Used to fill the classrooms. Usually the chalkboard. Can be used for holidays like Valentines, Christmas, All Souls Day and for any special occasion. They usually make the empty room seem full, so it wont hurt your eyes seeing plain walls.

  17. Jax and I had just began our journey to grandma’s. I was practically bouncing in my seat, excited to see all the intracit ornaments on her Christmas tree. She always went all out when arranging the decorations around her homey cottage.

  20. It’s fun decorating a place, especially with a theme. It’s often a surprise to walk into a decorated room … on an occasion specifically for you! Decorations are a way to show that you care about someone or something, and it’s really a nice touch. Decorations are friendly, beautiful, sometimes funny, and almost always sweet.

  21. I prefered the homemade decorations that I used to make with my kids. We had so much fun coming up with ideas and then putting it all together. Twigs, leaves, berries & such. Ribbons and bows twined through it all.

  22. We’re staying in a house with 4th of July decorations crowding the walls. No pictures, hangings, or paintings; just strings of red, white, and blue lights and bunting strung across the walls.

  30. The clock strikes one, Pat looks up at the clock and packs his stuff. He can only think of one thing, having to wake up tomorrow at 6 in the morning and running through the whole routine over. His clients are always complaining about him, his co-workers are phonies trying to one up each other, and his boss verbally abuses him often.
Pat shakes his head, trying to rid the bad thoughts in his head, and he blankly stares into the polluted sky. He walks slowly to his single bedroom apartment, and inserts the key into the lock, he turns it and it clicks open. The room is dark and it smells of cigarettes, he closes the door behind him and walks lifelessly into his bedroom. Just a typical day for a prisoner.

  31. Decorations hung up around the stores: stockings strung along the railings, glittering balls of the boughs of the Christmas tree. The season made it too easy. The compulsion didn’t stop because of the holiday season. It got worse. Every store had their best on display, within reach of addicted, theiving fingers.

  37. Christmas is here and it’s time to continue our lovely family tradition: take all the lights and toys out and make everything magical… Yes, that’s the power of Christmas- magic

  38. Each wall was covered from floor to ceiling with posters, cut outs from magazines, and pictures printed out in black and white. The young girl who frequented the room to sleep and escape would add a new one something for each milestone in her life, be it graduating eighth grade or discovering a new hiding place. A new friend, a new obsession, the passing of a beloved fish were all documented with masking tape and a resting place for her to go back to to find the memories connected to them.

  39. They nice but I find the pointless sometimes. Women just go ape shit on that stuff to the point it’s gaudy show-offy and tasteless. What are you trying to prove? Things like that have to be done with delicateness.

  40. She was all decked out. Decorated to the nines. If the walls could talk, they would be jealous of the painting that was her face.
“Lean on me,” they would cry. Such an astonishing self portrait. Perfect gown. Lovely sparkly shoes. And I was just there to serve her bubbly water when she rang.
