the word was derived from the property of the chemical that spilled across the labrotory floor. The DErive was a good one. They always went for DErives after the snow came, to see what sorts of trouble they could get in to. It was part of the thrill, part of the fun. Will they crash? Will they skid? Their love of their life was not strong enough to keep them inside.

gather get from learn from gather facts i want to learn more about I need to narrow down the information to get an answer. how did you get your answer?
Today I thouht I write about the word derive. Where did the word derive, derive from? Was it meant to mean something else or did it’s creator simply want to derive a word that meant to take from.
James
Derive to thrive
To stay alive
To take deep gasping breaths
Of your hair
And kiss those eyes
That guide through this fire
Setting on ashes of pain and thrust forward
Through the rainfall

Eren is starving, mouth dry at the mere thought of liquid. Anything — anything would suffice, to take him away from this hell that he has been suffering the past seven months. Derived of food, water, clothing; he’s naked, body battered and broken against the wood of a cross.

I can derive the meaning of life with mathematics. We can study the numbers to find out the answers, to the full extent of our presence here on earth.
Kelsey Hedrick
It took me what seemed a lifetime to derive the answer to the question that had plagued me. Why have I remained alone for so many years…. I’ve been treading water waiting for him to swim up to me and claim me as his soulmate. It had to be this way. I had to be karmicaly free of all past lives and past lovers. A pure soul for him who deserves nothing less.
I derive pleasure from feeding people and watching them eat the food I’ve lovingly prepared. I have two kids that don’t eat the food I make. I am a caterer by profession; how am I supposed to derive pleasure from watching my kids make faces at my food?
John Green derived his book from someone he knew with cancer. I think it helps to write about cancer when you have been through the emotions of someone with cancer, especially someone who has passed away from the disease. While the characters in the book aren’t real, the same emotions exist among cancer patients.
Jennifer Leavell
i really don’t know what this means i think it means to take way something you need. Like I am derived from ice cream, and yes, I NEED icecream
Edith Collins
Where the word derives, he forgets. Where we have derived, she will always remember.
A life-changing revelation derived from a dream. Maybe it isn’t fair to make these commitments to changing the way I think after I experience some nighttime hallucination. But it was so beautiful and frightening…
I will put these chemicals in thusly, mix them all together with a smidgen of water, stir gently and voila!, in just a minute we will derive the most potent elixir known to man!
The boy derived stupid things from the look the girl gave him. He almost cried himself to sleep one night just wondering what the hell that look meant. Little did he know, she was just lustfully staring at the scrumptious cheesburger in his hands…… love

Drive to the derive. The derivative, the inconsequential, the fragment. Arrive, through an indirect way, but still arrive at the destination.
Jennifer Lemming
I’ve derived such pleasure from seeing you like this… I imagine you can’t understand, so wrapped up in your pain. You can’t see what you look like right now, the beauty that lies in the field beneath your pain. I am here to unearth it. To show it to the sun. To bring you into the light.
Derive is an interesting topic for many scientists and religionists alike. The age old question, evolution or god is one that comes up often, perhaps too often and all surrounds where we derived from. Now, I derive from my two parents, of that i am certain, but what about the history of man, what about the history of animals, of objects, of concepts. All can be reveal in history. Another definition of derive is to: obtain something from (a specified source). I.e, one can derive comfort from a chair, or food from a shop, water from a hole.

Where do I come from where am I going . such questions preoccupy my days and give me reason to inquire about the world that I live in.

A lot of our modern day words derive from other languages. Latin being the most used. I cant say I particularly enjoyed Latin at school though.
To derive the truth from my words
From my actions
Pull your hands inside of me
Cut the cord that goes from my heart to my mouth
Look inside of my gut
Does it blind you?
I don’t know what comes from what
I lack the vocabulary to eloquently explain
what this feels like…natural.

Yeah, that’s a math term. I come on here to procrastinate my Stats exam and I get a math term. Not the exam has anything to do with derivatives, but still, way to mess up my distraction.
It’s strange the things people derive pleasure from. A person trips, a person falls, and the world laughs. A person stands up straight, a person does what is right, and the world shrugs and moves on. “Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry and your cry alone.”
I told him I have to go. What he chooses to derive from it is his problem. But then, it isn’t like I want to be rude or push him away for that matter. It is just…. that I need my space and he is crowding me, pushing me to make a decision when all I need is some time to think about everything and get my head around the fact that I might be in love with him after all.
I derive form this word that I can never quite get my thoughts down on paper. To derive or not to derive, that is the question. How can I derive thee.
Jane Waite
The place we come from. Our ancestors, our parents, our creators. Those who brought us into this world. Without them we would not exist. Does that mean we should look up to them? Respect them? Be grateful to them? The obvious answer is yes, but that is easier said than done.

Fisher looker around. Mould, litter, cat shit. The place was seething with filth. Slumped down behind the frame of an old sofa he spotted Ricky’s feet digging into the floor. There were needles and crack pipes strewn about the room, left carelessly now. He hadn’t ever summoned the nerve to taste the poison she fed herself, but there was nothing that could make him see how she could derive pleasure from anything in this hellhole.
She derived from another world. That’s what it felt like as I stared at her through the window of my bedroom. She was new a girl in school, the one everyone was talking about. No one transfers into the Academy so late. Especially a Senior. She had long dark ebon hair that was pulled up into a bun.

I sank down at the table, my mathbook making a thunk next to me. I looked at the problems, and the assignment trying not to cry. There were at least 100, and with no calculator allowed. God my math teacher was a dick.
I pulled my notebook twoards me, and began to work, numbers flying through my head at a mile a minnute. I did the usual and put charecters to the numbers to help myself get through the tough parts. I was a wordie at heart and couldn’t stand numbers. They confused me to no end.
Looking at all the problems I had to do I broke down, and put my head into the spine of the book, feeling hopeless.
To this day, I will never know how he was able to derive that particular truth from the vast, complex tangle of lies that was our relationship.

My dislike of this word derives from seeing it in too many textbooks and too many tests.
