  1. detour…the way is blocked but you’re not stopped, imagine: go around or through or across or under or over or next to…but don’t stop…keep going…it’s alright and it’s fun and it’s adventurous and it’s challenging and it’s not the norm…it’s better…you’ll get to know God…or whatever you’re looking for…if it’s not God…it’s less…it’s a detour you don’t want to take…

  2. make me a detour! …and the wood paneled sedan curved ‘gracefully’ to the right, powering over the curb, the fence, and a real estate agent sign that smacked against the windshield – for an instant subjecting all to Jeff Bugler’s practiced sales grin.

  8. read is something you do when you are bored and you read a couple sentences or a book. what you wear reflects the opinion of some people. if you wear good clothes they are happy and if you wear bad they are assholes to you. so read about what you wear and wear what you read..

  9. I was walking along, minding my business. I was walking on my path in life. I was just going. And then it hit me. It bruised me. It crushed me. It pushed me off the path. It hurt at first. I walked, disillusioned. But now I can look back and know that’s the best, best mistake I’ve ever made.

  11. detours are kinda fun except when you want to go one place and are like “i think this’ll be a fun path to try and take” and when you started out to leave you had like ten minutes to spare, and then when you are done with your new favorite “shortcut” you are like 3 minutes late.

  13. I can’t remember the last time there was a detour. Anywhere. I don’t go on road trips, and I don’t even own a car. I barely know what a detour is. I wonder what about it makes people so angry.

  14. We have many detours in our lives. Death, birth, job loss, new jobs, relationships. But one thing is for sure there is a purpose and there is a great meaning in human life, will, and in love. Instead of looking at opportunity loss, look at new things that may be gain from the change in path.

  15. we spent a lot of nights giggling under the dark sheets doing god knows what

crying out in ecstasy as we did

    every chance we got.

    we used to

kiss in the empty classrooms in the corridors in the corners behind doors in locked rooms we though we were safe from the eyes of the world in

    we used to

lie down together it didn’t matter where and hold each other close and caress an arm or a cheek and watch the seconds fall like sapphires knowing every one was precious

    now

    after several months

    and i look back

at everything we did everything we went through

every lie, every tear, every stab of pain, every judgment,

    i realize that

i was just your detour, your distraction, your entertainment,

    your one-time attraction.

  16. taking a detour on a road is much like taking one in life. there is no time to think about what you are doing, you are simply directed in that direction. you believe that the detour will take you to your intended original location but sometimes it is not the case. you may get offtrack but you must always try and get back on the path you were on and get to your destination no matter what means you must take.

  22. Detours, whether we know it or not, are crucially important in all of our lives. If there were no detours, we would only follow the path is front of us, rather than the road less traveled.

  25. Life is full of plenty. Get on with everything, even after experiencing one, but not all are bad. Sometimes, you need a few to keep sane. Always be on the lookout, and be wary of them, good or bad.

    Pizzakiller
  26. A detour is something can be viewed as something good or bad. it’s one of life’s many exciting twists and turns that keeps us ever wondering… is there a purpose in life, is there a fate? a destination? what is it that keeps us from doing what we keep expecting to do, it is as if life is as unpredictable as a random stream of numbers

  27. I took a detour the other day. I wanted to turn left but a right turn was my only possibility. I turned and drove down a road I was unfamiliar with and saw some things I was not comfortable with. I saw a man in women’s clothing and a child selling food for profit. Then I punched them all in the face.

    Mert Shepard

  32. To take a detour, ironic in that I’m on this site to avoid doing real work. I guess I’m detouring from the hard work that’s ahead, doing physics and lit and taking the AP tests. This is just a minute long break from the rush of life, taking the time to sharpen my quick thinking skills. I bet it helps typing too, but I guess that doesn’t matter. This post isn’t too focused, is it?

    Matt Mosquera

  36. it was a long road, the one that we took together
    a long fine journey
    but with all journeys

    so what do you want?
    Mackenzie wanted adventure

  39. I went on a detour last night. It took my around a corner to a deserted park in the middle of Kerrisdale. The lights from the city pollute the sky in a beautiful way. It is so quiet. It’s funny where you end up when taking a turn you did not anticipate; sometimes you find something better than what you had initially set out to find.

    Matthew Harty
  40. Sometimes the roads you never intended to take are the journeys you’re the most thankful for.
