Why is the text gray? Gray text is difficult to read. High contrast is better. Fix your website. Thank you for your time.

a car has to go more and mroe out of the way. it’s so annoying that you are not wear you are going on time. you only left the amount of time you intended to drive without the detour. awww, aunt pearl’s going to be mad i’m late for her wedding! i’m the flower girl!
beth
when you see the orange sign there is a moment of panic. oh no, how long is this going to take? where will it take me? but then you remember that most of the time it is well-planned, and all you have to do is follow the signs. detours: they’re idiot proof

I want a detour to life. I don’t want to keep going down this one way road. It’s gotten boring and long. And I’m simply done with it all. Give me a road down a long desolate road that is somehting more than here. I need a detour to life.
Janelle
i took a detour down a road and it lead me to a place I had never seen before. A place where the sun shines red and the grass grows blue. The sky is purple and the people walk on their hands. It was great.
Olivia
whenever i drive around with my friend, sarah, she convinces me that there are detours to get places faster and i always take them and they end up being a shit ton longer than my orginal path. thanks sarah.

detour’s can be annoying. i remember going to the airport one time at like 4am and being late for the flight and having to take a million detours around boston. we barely caught our flight. last january the roads were awful when i was going to a party with a bunch of my friends and we took a detour on a side road and a car skidded in front of us and my boyfriend who was drivng MY car hit them.
Holly
Detours mean change and you should be flexible in life so that when you see the detour sign it doesnt stress you out. and you might just enjoy seeing places you never thought you would, or never had the time to see before.
cheryl
We were meant to be going there together, but you decided to take a detour. And now we are no where near where we wanted to be, and no where near each other. I’m still on track, I am, where are you? Where are you?
tegan
What’s a detour? asked the boy.
His mother paused. You know when you can’t get to the place where you were going so you have to go a different way.
She sighed and turned the wheel
Kevin
Well a detour is when you have to take another way to get to a certain area, and sometimes detours are good things because you have to see other things when you take detours. Sometimes maybe they’ll take you on beautiful paths, or maybe through a dark city. Either way it’s a new experiance.
daniela
I left the chapel frazzled and ready for an escape. Catholic life was not for me. I threw on a netted top, mini leather skirt, and long boots. Time for a detour in my life. College here I come.

I was walking through the park when i had to take a detour. there was construction being done on the path and i was told to turn around by the sign, i chose instead to walk around the construction and see what lay ahead.
jonny
this green bar is about to go on a detour. Right up my your ass. Because i don’t get this game. Why am I writing. Are you trying to steal my ideas. Or rather, force a detour apon my life. I’m not ready for this. Don’t steal my thoughts. Am I allowed to keep writing. I don’t’ get this game. Don’t detour my thoughts.
Sadie Padfield
I took a detour from my normal life today. I tried to put myself out there more than usual but in a way that was natural for me. I had good results with co-workers who I’ve normally been shy around.
Today was a good day.

Taking the otherway.
Not that far to go even in an ackward moment.

“Let’s take a detour over here,” she suggested, flicking her hair in the process.
I was reluctant though. I never wanted to abide by her wishes. I tried to negotiate with her, but she would hear nothing of it.
I hate her. So much.
Judy
taking a way that is against your norm. I like to take detours in my life every now and then. it makes things interesting, and sometimes, you find things you didn’t know were there. Detour. that’s a dumb word. tour is discovery. de-tour takes it away. Except you are adding things new, not taking away.
walter
Driving freaks me out. I pulled up to the corner and looked at the detour sign. I needed to be at work at 8 but that rarely happened.
Michelle
detour. first thought: my whole life has been a detour so far. which of course implies a destination. interesting, if life is what happens when you’re making other plans, and your plans are the destination, then life is necessarily a detour. it’s the unexpected flow of your experience, driving you down blind alleys. no one can fight it.
bryan
Time to take stock. Ain’t it time for a change? Go where you wouldn’ normally, where there is fear adventure and life.

There was a detour when I was on my way to school. There were two actually. I wasn’t sure which one to take, but everyone was going to the one on the left. I decided to be different and chose the one on the right. Turns out, I should have followed them. I got lost for three hours and missed half a day of school, all because of a stupid wrong turn. Well…this sucks, immensely. Now my teachers are mad at me and I don’t know what to do.
samantha
as i stepped off the train and out to the world the sign on the side walk made me pause and think if i had ever taken another route before
Miko
What the fuck to write about detours… I hate taking them most of the time. But they can also be enjoyable. Like in Robot Chicken when the Dukes of Hazard took a detour and died. It was pretty cool.
Michael
there is a damn detour leading down the one street that my gps tells me to go and it pisses me off. a lot. all my friends get lost when they try to come over to spend the nite. especially when they use mapquest to get to my house cuz the internet is retarded and never registers closed roads. so you have to find your own way a mile outta the way to get back.

i always have something to write but i never knew if i ever took a detour in my life and a detour is a changed route, right? so anyways guys in our grade can’t blow. they don’t take shit but they are full of it. I don’t get it!! I hate the guys in my grade. Well I don’t have Ahmad, whom I nicknamed Cheburashka, and I don’t hate Jay or Martin or Jonathan…I don’t hate a lot of people. but my grade is so fake…
I sometimes want to leave them.

She was the loveliest detour I think I ever could have taken.

There was a sign on the road, no questions asked, it was closed. You could see the crew from the drivers seat. . . I turned next to a sign, Detour, but I knew the way through there. It wasn’t worth the gas. I went home instead . . . now I’m out of milk and its all the road crews fault.

The food was scrumptious until it took a detour and wanted to be free of my GI tract. Its not rare, for me, and my titanic gag reflex, but it should not have happened when I was meeting his parents. They were not impressed.

adventures.
take a detour, go somewhere you’ve never been. be late to see the pretty stuff. in the end, experiences are more valuable than any material thing. it could all start with a detour.

detour, a not so minor setback.
causes you to become in a situtuation that you most often don’t want to be in.
may cause frustration, anger, etc.

she made her way around it, she knew she could not go the way most others would choose as that would be dangerous. She had to outsmart the others. Her life depended on her being cunning and careful. She made the detour around the accident by cutting through an alley and down a covered walkway slipping between some stalls selling cheap plastic tourist nick nacks and other stalls with fruit and vegetable. She quickly glanced over her shoulder to check that no-one was following her. She felt safe and strong and in that moment invincible. How could she feel so different than she did last night when she was so afraid, so small, weak and threatened. She realized how essential it was to her survival to stay strong in her mind – it was all a state of mind.
