  4. The detour really screwed our family trip. We were planning an amazing day through the rockies when we came upon this rock slide. We saw three cars under a few tons of boulders that had fallen from the mountain side and the police were removing bodies. so much for our day through the rockies.

  5. It was a wrong turn, a detour. The wrongw ay to go, but somehow it felt right. Was this the true was we were meant to go? What was that about? We were just trying to get to my mother’s house. Maybe something was wrong there. Maybe something was preventing me from going there. Why? What did any of this mean? Who knows? It was only a detour afterall.

    Cassi Blevins

  7. I’m not sure what a detour is. Does it mean that you are on your way back after you’ve gone something? Or does it mean something has broken and needs to be sent back to the factory? Tour does look like it will move somewhere.. de means to get it back into a previous state, so something goes back to the beginning?

    Sascha
  11. He walked along the near-empty street in the deepening light of the day. He felt lost, empty almost, a child without his mother to look after him. This way or that, he wondered, turning his head either which way down the street. It was only supposed to be a detour.

    Taylor Martinez
  12. Around the back. No, the front. No, not the front, you idiot, the side. Now back to the other way. Ugh, god damn it, you’re going the wrong way. Now twist around, take three lefts, a right, a right, a right, three lefts and two more rights, head down the straight there about fifteen miles, turn straight around the follow these directions again until you get to where you’re going.

    Jamesryan Somers
  13. Going to a place where it is unexpected. Like how life will take you to places, events, ideas, and people that you didn’t expect or known could experience. Sometimes a detour isn’t a bad thing. Other times is horrible.

I should have kept to the main road with my mouth instead of going on a detour route on the path of her body.

    Mary
  23. I knew what I wanted of course, it just kind of sagged with the days. Sometimes you have to find a different way of getting there, even if your boyfriend keeps backseat driving and your mom complains that there aren’t enough rest stops in fucking Kentucky.

    Guupi
  24. Detour reminds me of my grandma and how whenever we would go somewhere in town we would take the “detour/scenic route” which basically meant taking an extra half hour to go up on the red hill where she would drive 20 mph in a 45 mph zone. I miss her. She was amazing.

    Hayley
  25. It was quite the ride. When we left the house, I thought it was going to be just your ordinary trip to the supermarket, but what I wasn’t expecting was that sandlot. When our car got stuck, there really wasn’t much that we could do.

    Sarah

“But Mandy, that takes effort! Why not just speed through the signs before the police catch us?”
“What are you on, Karlie? That’s stupid. I’m turning left.”
“Seriously Karlie, deep breaths. Do you honestly think we need trouble with the police right now?” Sammi protested, flipping her dark brown hair behind her shoulder.

    Isabelle
  28. hate detours, you get lost really easy and sometimes you don’t know where you’re going. you just follow the person in front of you and hope to god they’re going the same place you are. thank god we have gpses now….at least that helps some. I just remember that one time i got lost for like 10 miles and there were just cornfields aroudn me. not even a street or soemthing I could make a U-turn. I had to call someone and mapquestion it

  33. A detour is an derailing one has to take. For example, when you hit an unexpected plan, you must take a detour because it was unexpected, you hadnt planned for it, and you obviously have to make up for it. Or when youre driving, a detour is when you laso have to change your plan.

  37. The brain goes on a constant detour from daily events. You think you’re going one way in something, and you aren’t. It’s crazy to think about how one second you’re thinking about a bagel and the next second you’re thinking about that cash flow. Ahhhhh i love traffic. Detours just make my day. Stupid stupid traffic lights.

    Kathleen Tillman

I head around my original path to get to my destination and something else happens to pop up and say HEY, guess what, YOURE NOT GOIN THAT WAY. Try and follow the signs to get where your going, but of course I’m always getting lost, cuz that’s pretty much all detours ever do isn’t it?

    Megan
