The children were rowdy in their cages, bouncing into the bars, into each other. Someone had snuck them sugar. A flick of the dial and time slowed, freezing the children so that a laughing face looked the same as a screaming face.

I picked up the phone and began to dial. Then I heard her sweet voice on the end on the line.
“Hello?”
“Hey Sunshine. Want to grab a bite?”
Rachel
Once upon a time I called someone on the phone, but I was so hesitant to do it that each button i pressed seemed like a mistake the second i did it, like when you hear them say a number in a really serious movie but you hear that its a 555-0283 number, always with the 555. its like a little red sign that pops out and says OH LOOK ITS A MOVIE!

Dial the number right now to place your order! Don’t hesitate! Call now! Evil clowns are waiting at your front door as we speak, ready to fall upon you with knives should you so much as hesitate to call this number now! Their names are Bruce, George, and Bobo. They lead interesting lives.
Irk
My fingers hesitate over the keys, though I have your number memorized. If I dial, and you pick up, then I truly have to say it. And there’s no going back.

I do not like to call you. I don’t. So please don’t make me.

The soap or the phone?
Dad always used dial soap when he would come in from work. He was a farmer, but he always had clean hands.
I got a lot more respect for him when I moved to college, being the only one who ever went to a university — the same as me.
Now I’ve moved away, and I miss him.

whenever you call somebody, you dial. whenever you take a bath, you use Dial. whenever you talk to an american guy asking for technical support, you tell them “to dial other departments”.

dial the phone and call my mom. she always says the things I need to hear. hearing her yell into the background and chime my dad into the conversation always cheers me up too. It gives me hope for my future that maybe someday I will synch with someone like they do. I am envious of their honesty and total compatability. she was made for him and him for her. I love them both so much. I live in constant fear of disappointing them.
Susan
Dial 911 if there is an accident. What seems to be the problem. Help will be there shortly. LOL

phones are great, but half teh ringers that come with your phones are crap. they are so annoying and they never give you and good ones. why to they always annoy the crap out of you? maybe that because they want you to answer it to end the madness but when you do your all pissed.
Derek
The phone rings and rings, no one is home to answer. It will forever ring the sound resonating through the open space of the empty house. No one to answer no one to respond.
Kate
here she was, helpless.
but as she dials his number, she gathers hope.

Dial, in swedish I think, is translated to: “Revenge.” Imagine a Swede (if that’s the correct nationality; I’m pretty sure), looking at a phone, and one of the buttons says revenge. Would he press it? If he did, what would he expect?
I think any Swede pressing a dial button, or maybe even “redial,” should be put away for their spiteful nature.

The dial tone goes flat, and I don’t know whether or not I should be happy. On one hand, I had been dreading our conversation and secretly relieved that she had been too, but on the other hand…we really needed to talk. It wasn’t like we could drag this out forever…
…that is, we “shouldn’t”, but I suppose if we were really desperate…

phone dial. dial soap. The phone dial is an interesting sound with potential. I kind of like it. It’s possible to call anyone. You could be nervous about the call or excited. It may just be a chore.

I pick up the phone to dial a number, but whose? 9 digits pressed, and such hesitation. As if this phone call shouldn’t be made, but why should I feel this way? Did I fear that no one would pick up, or did I fear that it’d actually get through?

The phone dial ios an intersting thing. It’s annoying and comforting all at the same time. It’s monotonus and soothing. That simple tone can drive somebody up a wall and soothe their nerves all at the same time. It’s the one thing keeping you away from an important call.
Heather
I dialed the telephone. Actually dialed rather than pressing buttons. Put finger into each numbered hole and pulled the dial around until my finger hit the little stop thing. I wonder if the stop thing has a name?
