  5. i am distracted. the colors all around me are filling my head, my ears, my eyes. I try to associate them with feelings, words, emotions. But all I can think about is how i should’ve gotten a junior bacon cheeseburger at wendy’s when i was there fifteen minutes ago. i guess I’m still hungry.

  7. There is always something to distract us from our daily boredom. Some times it is a random thought (or website), or maybe a forgotten email or letter from an old friend that while you still remember them seems fuzzier than you expected.

    When I think of distractions, I think of people who have multiple bright colors dyed into their hair. It’s distracting. I’m sure their hair follicles don’t appreciate it, either.

    You’re silly, too. I’ve noticed. It’s distracting. But I don’t mind.
    I really hope I know what I’m doing.

  26. i can never pay attention to anything it drives me crazy. i am trying to watch a tv show right now while going on stumble paying attention to neither of these things. this is a hard thing to do i can think of things to write. look now i’m getting distracted from the world they have me.

  27. I have some piano students who are easily distracted. They move around on the bench. They like to talk to me about my cat and their cat . . . in the middle of the piece they are supposed to be playing at the moment. They gaze around the room when I’m explaining something that is kind of important. But they are wonderful creatures.

  32. Loud noises, different people, a sensory overload. He called it ADD, but really, he was just interested in everything, everyone. A look at this, a look at that, it distracted him from his original mission. And to get back at the world, he did it to everyone he knew too. Distract them, make them loose focus. That was what he did, what he was.

  35. The hospital provided plenty of distraction for Jesse while he waited to see Jonah. The tiles had an unusual and random color pattern for imaginary Tetris, and as soon as the hallway cleared, Jesse emerged from his shadowy corridor and Tom Cruised from 342 to 348 in stolen scrubs.

    For a priceless moment during his slide, Jesse didn’t think about the bubbles escaping from Jonah’s silent scream under the ice.
